I do these things so others can learn from it.
Over the last few days the bike has squirmed a little, followed the odd road repair or divet and just not felt 'right'. As the weather has been pants and road conditions are not any better I put the majority of it down to this. Coupled with being conscious of my own movements on the bike, riding like a wooden man in the rain etc it all made a little sense.
Things start going through your mind when mid corner and the rear is starting to feel skittish, a loose suspension or low tyres were my main things that sprung to mind.
Due to the hours that I've been working lately I haven't had a chance to check the tyre pressures, so when I arrived at work today I thought I'd have a quick look and see whats what. This is what greeted me:

'Shit'was what sprung to mind!
I've done 7,000 miles on them since owning the bike, not sure how old they were beforehand. Plenty of tread on them (or so I believe anyways), not too square despite the long boring commute and yet its canvas and metal. I've never done a burnout on them, I know I should now.
Riding home today was an experience to say the least and my starfish was puckered all the way home. When I stopped it was surprising how hot the rubber was, whether this was down to the fact that the tyres were quite shockingly soft as well or not.
Tyre shopping tomorrow I think.
Replace front and rear as a matter of course, don't mix brands?
I want a tyre thats going to be very much like the Corsa III's without splashing the cash, a good dual compound tyre that offers the grip when the right hand gives it some. |

What about Diablo Rosso's, I think they are only single compound though. ____________________ My Flickr |

I broke mine in the same way I've broken in every other tyre, just by riding, gently and slowly getting faster and more aggressive. First 50 or so miles I did think the front tyre was flat or something though, it just felt totally wierd, but after that ..I've honestly never had so much confidence in a tyre.
Is that a Corsa 3 you had? My mate Stevie has used them as his last three sets on his old B1h, but he just bought a new bike (C6f 636) with these fitted and is now agreeing with me that PR2's are the danglies! ____________________ Suzuki GSX-R750K4 ~ Mivv GP |

A 180 allows for slightly quicker turn in.
Though my rsv has 190 as standard and ive allways had 180 on it. I had to change my tyres a few weeks ago and they only had a 190 in stock and i cant say i notice much difference. The turn in is still pretty fast on rsv's and theres hardly much between the two tyres. ____________________ My Bike Pics |

I dunno but I doubt they will honour any warranty if they discover it's been run over-pressure, over-speed and with 50 kilos of lead bolted to the swingarm ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

Yes weight to increase traction on the salt. Vastly increasing unsprung mass brings it's own problems though so it;s a compromise. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'
