Hi all.

Just getting a CBR 125 (2005 model) so I can practice on the bike and take the test. (Thank the lord the new test has been put back 6 months)

Anyway, I have Clubfoot and can not get my foot under the gear lever to change gears.

When I done my CBT on a Yamaha YBF 125, they simply undone the bolt and adjusted the position of the lever to make it more level with the peg.

but I noticed the CBR 125 05 model does not look the same.

Does anyone know if its possible to adjust the lever on the CBR without having to do some welding.

Thanks in advance.

I can't find a picture on the web of a CBR125 gear lever on the bike. Can you please take a photograph of the footpeg and gear lever and post it up here and I'll tell you how to adjust it. I'm certain it will be adjustable.

The bike is still in the shop, I am due to pick it up on the weekend so I can not get a picture. (As at work all week when they are open)

Hopefully if someone else has a CBR 125 (mines a repsol replica) they took take a pic for me.

This is the actual bike I am purchasing.

There must be some kind of linkage but I can't find a large enough picture to work it out. It looks like the linkage goes behind the peg hanger and over to the engine somewhere.

The best bet would be to ask the garage if you haven't bought it yet. I'm sure they will be happy to adjust the lever for you if you explain what you need. After all, you are giving them a lot of money...

Hi

Generally 2 ways for the gear change to attach. Either the lever attaches directly to the shaft from the gearbox or the lever attaches near the foot peg and then has a linkage to go to the shaft from the gearbox.

In the first case you can probably take the gear change lever off and put it back on in a slightly different position. Normally held on with a pinch bolt, so remove the bolt, slide the lever off, move it round slightly and put it back on, put the pinch bolt back in and tighten it up. Normally there is a small dot punched on the shaft to line up with the split in the lever for setting it up as standard.

In the 2nd case it is probably easier. Normally there is a shaft from the lever to the shaft coming from the gearbox. You can adjst the lever position by rotating the shaft, as it will have a thread on either end, one of which will be reversed. As you rotate it the shaft moves on the threads making the total length effectively longer or shoter. Probably a locknut (or maybe 2) on the shaft. Slacken the lock nut/s (note that one is probably on a reverse thread) then you should be able to rotate the shaft. Once adjusted toghten the lock nuts.

That said you are buying it from a dealer. I would expect them to adjust this for you. Only takes a few minutes for them.

All the best

Keith

Hi all

Thought I would give ya an update

Picked up the bike today, the gear lever is perfect.

They managed to adjust it without any welding or anything.

They said it is as high as it can go without causing problems with the gear and the tank.

Its perfect.
I have already done 100 miles on it today. I love it.
