My bike seems to wallow on the rear end when entering or halfway through the corner if I don't keep the throttle open.

18 year old bike, 47k miles and the shocks never been replaced or serviced, it's bound to be the reason??? I'm guessing. If not any other reasons?

Any quick fix I can do on this, it's not really worth replacing it for after market at the moment.

Cheers

what bike??

if your tyre pressures are ok then it is the shocks or just generally an old bendy chassis.

not to sound rude but if you are heavier than standard and the bike is small then it will be unstable.

Check your tyre pressures first, make sure they are ok.

If they are ok, then yeah, about time for new shocks I think. Thumbs Up

Bikes are much more stable cornering whilst rolling on the throttle.

I'd suspect a bit of play in shock absorbers and swinging arm by that age.
Could be sorted with a bit of cash.

Thanks guys, pretty much confirms my suspicions, machinei n question ZXR 750, tyre pressures are A ok.

Known for the stiff chassic/shocks so shouldn't be an issue really.
Only 11 and half stone also.

If anything it feels like swingarm playif I had to try describe it. Almost like the subframe I'm sitting on is wallowing, it's hard to describe.

Apart from that I went for a hardcore ride on sunday accross Exmour on a route i've pretty much dialled in for maximum thrills/pleasure and must say the most fun I've had on this machine EVER...!

Side to side play? Could it be the bushes in the swingarm?

Although Bodge is right about the throttle.

Whilst on the topic, how long do you recon I could

A: change the shock out? (perhaps I could get a newer second hand one)

B: Change the swingarm bearings/bushes?

You could, taking your time and being relaxed about it, do it over a weekend as long as you bought in all the parts you need before hand.

You are talking about a job that even I am not scared of.

Wouldn't it be more likely to be a knackered shock?

18 years and 47k miles - you probably have no real damping left!

It's got spring left in it. That's about it.

Nah all good. Besides it's much better at speed. Wouldn't it be the opposite if this were true?

I dont know, mine came unstuck, so a 10g(i think) was flapping about, only affected cornering.

Guessed this was the cheapest thing for you to try! Rather than start messing with suspension etc.

No no, I appreciate the suggestion, when it comes to suspension/chassis I don't really know much at all...

Engines are my thing.
