Getting Ridiculous..

So to cut a long story short, I binned my moped A FUCKING GAIN.


And I've had a really bad day ha, so feel free to make it worse by laughing at me

I hate my moped, the tyres are shit, it feels top heavy and just loves to slide arse backwards down random roads.

Its got off road-ish tyres, it was wet today - my fault for having too much faith in my bike, I suppose. I've got no injuries bar some broken jeans - my leather jacket saved my metaphorical arse from further pain other than a bruised ego.

Here's my shitty story - there is a tight corner that also raises up hill to leave my college, and the moped parking bay is about fifty feet away. I rode toward the turn at about five miles per hour, leaned over just like I would at any other moment, and the bike just slid from under me and I ended up on my arse.

Maybe some better tyres would help, years ago when i road scooters i did the same , small wheels i think.

Yeah, I'm looking at getting better tyres, the most expensive you can get for a moped really if possible - but then I'm selling the bike in ASAP in November, so dont want to lose money.

It-s just really done my confidence, after I was really enjoying commuting every day to college.. I'm dreading it tomorrow .

ive had mine almost a week and a bit now, a gilera runner 58 plate. first day i use the front break a bit too heavily at a traffic light, i almost jus tipped over lol. no damage done i guess, has made me a lot more aware and cautious on how to control my bike

My KLE had dual purpose tyres on it, one day on the slightest bend it was like someone just kicked it from under me. It happens, suppose all you can do is try to learn from it.

My DR has road legal enduro tyres, done a fair few miles since the KLE and learned a fair bit, not come off the DR yet, touch wood!!

Fuck it, just gaffer tape the bike, your arse, and get back on mate.

It's true enough mopeds are evil & dangerous things, whose sole purpose is to frighten the young and impressionable into cars - thus keeping them away from the delights of real bikes.

i remember i went in to college on my ped and there are pot holes the size of earth in that place, the backtire slid out on the gravel and everyone saw but in the end, i just laughed about it.

Today, I woke up and decided, fuck it; I rode to college, albeit at a snails pace, then home, then too my mates, then too my nans, then to the gym and back. Basically, I just rode most of the day, and my confidence is okay now.. I just hate the wet! So dangerous and ruins riding the thing IMHO.

I've been looking at new tyres, and as the bike is due for an MOT in two weeks, depending on what else needs to be done, I will plough money into the 'ped. Im also on the verge of completely re-spraying it, so to completely take it apart (with the help of my mechanic of a dad) will be interesting.

Does anyone else find wet conditions, in short, a complete CUNT?

Good decision riding all day, ride in the wet as much as possible mate, learn to ignore how wet you are getting or already are and concentrate on your riding, you'll be a lot more competent in the wet

I'd disagree really, riding on sub par tyres won't do you, your bike or possibly your skin any favours. Chop them in for some proper winter orientated hoops and you'll get your confidence back pronto.

My ZZR and RST both came with 020s fitted and I had exactly the same problems in the wet on both bikes. Switching to a more capable wet weather tyre was like buying a new bike and easily added 10+mph on my wet weather comfort zone in the corners, given how pedestrian I am thats a fair amount!

Its not the wet that causes the problems it the cr@p on the road from leaky vehicles especially hgv / buses.

Most tyres work well in the wet and can disperse huge amounts of water in full wet conditions.
Damp is danger as far as i'm concerned. Last night as i was slowing down on the slip road the back end kept slipping, gripping and slipping as it passed over the oil splashes.
