managed to pick up a pair of leathers really cheap. Problem is, it has a hole ( in the crotch area). Now, I'm not interested in repairing this, but I do want to stop the hole getting bigger. So I'm thinking a leather patch, cropped from an old garment, superglued in place, just to give it a little more strength againt the strains of mounting. Will this work?

Having the leathers professionally repaired isn't an option. I'm not intending to have these longer than, say, six months. The hole isn't a problem now, I just want to make sure it doesn't become one.

Thanks.

I would think superglue would be too brittle, crack and come unstuck. Something like Evostick might be better.

Should be okay, I've superglued plenty of leathers in my time and it seems to last well.

Linen thread and a leather needle - stitch it and don't worry about it.

A few stitches with strong thread and needle are much better.
You'll need a pair of pliers or something to push and pull the needle.

It would make toilet stops more convenient. Embarassed Rolling Eyes

Plus you'd get a fortune on ebay for it if you advertised it in that particular section..... Laughing

I find a pack of Rizlas are good for pushing the needle through with. They stop the blunt end of the needle going into your thumb.
Absolutely no good for smoking with after though due to all the pin holes.

Like most blokes have a thimble! Actualy I no longer have Rizlas as I jacked smoking five years ago and last time I needed to sew some leathers I used the top off a beer bottle (inside of the top against the needle for safety).

i bought a hein gericke leather trousers which had a rip on the seam for 99 quid when new it was 199 quid. spent £3.50 on a cobbler who sewed it up. it was basically brand new from the hein gericke returns and warranty thing on ebay.

i'm sure a cobbler can get a piece of fabric or leather and do it for a fiver mate.
