There I was, riding along nicely as you do, when a T5 went the other way, my bike being a tad noisey(standard 2t FREE ring ding(sorry, was Fnatics fault)) Back on serious topic, I did a few lifesavers and noticed on my 3rd in about 5 secs he'd turned round and put his lights on. I knew it was for me, just had that feeling so pulled in to see what the prob was, as he asks where my L plates are he radios's in. As I explain I don't need them he starts picking faults with the bike and noticed my TAX disc missing, I inform him that's in the post, at which both the traffic cops have a good laugh, I say I know how it sounds but I applied for it online last night, got the confirmation e-mail through etc...
But, on the fine it says it's for not displaying a VEL, I don't get when he found out over the radio that I was fully legal(except the slightly small plate, lack of working front indi's and no BS stamps on headlight unit)why he had to give me a 7 day produce, JUST for the MOT and a £60 fine for not displaying it, when I had no possible way of displaying it. Before people say you shouldn't have ridden without - thats bullshit cos lots of peeps do and I aint different. Can I appeal against the fine? Seeing as it's pretty much pointless? All the faults he mentioned are fixed and I dont think I can be done for them, as he didn't note them down.
I'd be all for paying up if it was reasonable, but paying for a fine that is pointless and just filling his quota, no ta.
Tips? Advice? the helpful kind ideally, I know it was daft to ride under the circumstances but I had to. ____________________ Roger wrote: Women don't get damp for clingy puppies. Get some better happy pills, hit the gym & buy a medallion the size of a dinner plate. Job done |

Gotta try mate. You have a legal right to appeal, and in this case, a very good chance of getting off.
Yes, the fine is for not displaying, but if you can prove the vehicle was taxed at the time of the alleged offence, you will more than likely be reprieved!
Even if your appeal is unsuccessful, you won't be any worse off, your fine doesn't increase or incurr costs or anything.
9/10 cops would have been fine in reality. I didn't even have tax once as I was waiting for my insurance docs in the post, he wasn't bothered about the tax, just wanted to see my insurance when it came through. Yours musn't have had a good shag for a while I expect.
Good luck ____________________ "THOSE WHO RISK NOTHING, DO NOTHING, ACHIEVE NOTHING, BECOME NOTHING." |

My tax disc is sitting in the footwell of my car as they both turned up at the same time and didnt open them until I was in the car.
Ive just realised I rode mine yesterday for the first time in a month without 'displaying' a tax disc. To be honest if the charge for you was being untaxed then you would be ok (even if it is ten days into the month) as you can prove it but unfortunately he has you on the bullshit charge of not displaying it. I cant really see you getting away with it unfortunately as you are bang to rights. Im just imagining the pedantic hearing where the smart arsed question arises 'how come your tax apllication only occured a day before the offence despite it being over a week into the month' followed by accusations of riding without tax before that.
Youve just been unlucky mate, you can try and get out of it but I dont think its going to work out unfortunately. ____________________ RS125 > CBR6 > SV650S > ZX636R > GSX1300RZ Hayabusa > 06 RSVR Mille > SV1000S > Street Triple 765 RS |

Should have questioned him on it.
I ride without mine all the time. Don't want it getting nicked. And I just got my taxed mine last night - my bikes current tax disc expired 06-2007. If it was a T5, it was probably a traffic car then? Don't they have automatic number plate readers and flag things up like no tax? Whorra nobber. |

@ Villers, it was the first time I'd ridden it in about 5 months so I hadn't had it taxed or been riding untaxed before then. It had ran out about 3 days prior to being re-taxed, but taxed all year before that, if you get me,.
I know I should have waited the 1 day it took, but it was a quick blast round the block like, and I didn't want to get iffy at the time because I would of walked away with points which would have my licenses(car & bike) revoked(within 2 years of passing on both), cos I have 3 points already.
Meh, S'pose I'll pay it then. Can't win everything eh? ____________________ Roger wrote: Women don't get damp for clingy puppies. Get some better happy pills, hit the gym & buy a medallion the size of a dinner plate. Job done |

So when I take my duplicate MOT to produce tomorrow, should I say anything then or just follow what it says on the back of the slip if it's worth chancing?
Not my area of expertise tbh, and plugger, your siggy made me lol, how random is it? A mate at work had "I poke badgers with spoons" on his Tshirt, it made my week.(Yes, it has been THAT sh1t. ) ____________________ Roger wrote: Women don't get damp for clingy puppies. I must admit I do this all the time without thinking of it. Normally on a sunday night I'll remember to get it done online and then think nothing of it. This is both the car and the bike.
I still think its very pissy not to let you off with just some kind of verbal. I think if I knew my bike was 100% I would have been just as pissy back to them. All Ive got to worry about is the small plate as far as I know so may be able to get away with what I said to the piece of shit who topped me for my car plate (plate had fallen off on the way home from work somehow, this officer follwed me for six miles and then pulled me in tescos car park - obviously just to look important)
'Whats the worst Im looking at then'
'I could give you a £30 fine'
'No points?'
'No'
'Well if thats the best youve got go ahead and let me get on with my fucking day'
Must have amused him because I didnt get anything. Ive always wanted to say 'Your either giving me the ticket or a bollocking, Im not going to stand here and take both' ha ha but im too much of a shithouse
So what you going to do Steve? Take it or fight it? ____________________ RS125 > CBR6 > SV650S > ZX636R > GSX1300RZ Hayabusa > 06 RSVR Mille > SV1000S > Street Triple 765 RS |

I got a pull similar to this, well I say a pull, they never lit up, never stopped me, and didn't caution me, just followed me all the way home and spoke to me when I parked on my drive.
Mostly about claiming my cb250rs made more than 33bhp and how the V5 said blue (had sprayed it matt black the day before). They also moaned at me not displaying tax, I managed to get away with the 'Ive had it stolen before so I dont risk it' followed by pulling it out of the tailpiece storage.
Might start displaying the tax on my 750, just got to get a holder. ____________________ own: 81 xs1100g...

Failure to display VEL or something similar was the fine. The old one was lost before I knew it had ran out. I found out before even starting the bike and waited til I'd taxed it before any use.
I dunno whether to push it fightin it, because I know they have bang to rights. I would love to stand in court and point out what a useless system it is and what a waste of all our time's this has been. When it was checked electronically at the scene why need to show it? What if it had been nicked and I hadn't noticed? They can tell with a 2 second radio query so the lazy twats should of let me on my way, without the commotion. I produced my MOT as ordered today but I'm still not decided to pay it, if I have nowt to lose or incur then I might just risk a hearing. But if it's gonna cost me more i'll pay it, that £60 will cover my MOT and next tarty bit. ____________________ Roger wrote: Women don't get damp for clingy puppies.
