On my ped, I can leave most traffic standing. It's very fast at being very slow though: the traffic often overtakes me before the end of the road is erached!
On my ybr125, I'm usually just poking ahead of other trafffic - but it's not a very powerful bike.
On smaller bikes, it's not just about opening the throttle further. As with all other aspects, you actually need some skill with a lighth bike (any idiot can ride a litre sports bike, and many do) Getting away from traffic if you're on a bike that does 50 in 1st is obviously easy. But on a 125, you need to combine quick shifting with swift throttle action.
On my ybr, opening the throttle tto get away would just mean I'm redlining. 1st is only good for 5-10mph, after all.
The secret is rapid gear shifting, practise that. ____________________ no regrets, no retreat, no apology.

Let the gears do the work. Not need to wring the neck of the engine all the time.
No idea what your red line is, but there should be no need even on a 125 to hit it in every gear away from the lights.
As someone else said find a quiet piece of road and practise a few starts, you will soon find whats best for you.
Remember that every set of lights is not the start of a MotoGp. Reving your bike before setting off is a sure fire way to upset someone in a car enough for them to attempt to race you away from the lights. ____________________ Just because my bike was A DIVVY, does not mean i am...... |

Yeah I am in 1st haha, and I just don't wanna let the clutch out to fast so the bike turns off.
Sorry if this is a stupid question but what does dumping the clutch mean? ____________________ Yamaha R125 - Cagiva Mito 125 - Honda CBR 600

When you simply let go of the lever.
Its going to go one of 2 ways....
Either it stops the engine or a back flip ____________________ Just because my bike was A DIVVY, does not mean i am...... |
