Right, following on from another thread,
ive finally had the carb overhauled with new float, needle, needle valve.

And the bike still revs itself high and redlines, like its got a airleak that kind when its running weak so revs its balls off.

The bike shop cant find any airleaks, the only other thing they can think of is air being sucked in when the bike gets hot in the crankcase.

There was a way of prooving this, but needed me to remove the top end (barrell) and will make me have to buy 2 pretty damn expensive gaskets from peugeot. (for what they are)

Anyone got a method to find out if it is the crankcase seals?

Run the engine and spray easy start at the crank case seals. If they are gone you can often get the engine to run with no petrol and this method.

Where are the crank case seals pup mate?

What they suggested doing in the shop was,
Top end off including barrell gasket and headgasket, fill with petrol or something and see if it dissapears or something along the lines of that, may make more sence to you than me..

Just looking at buying a gasket set, might as well have a look at ye old piston and barrell if its coming off at same time

Leave the top end alone damn you. Wink

Side cover off so you can see a crank seal, start engine and spray easy start at it. If revs go up its leaking.

If its possible to run the engine without that cover do so and spray easy start up behind it at the crank seal.

Leave the flywheel on. I didn't say take it off.

You need the bike to be in running condition, you should be able to spray behind it especially if you use a straw or something.

N O, spells no
Absolutely no chance your going to get fluid down there without the straw getting stuck, very very little clearance.....

another one tutton is wd40, just spray a shit load of the stuff down the back with the engine running, some will find its way in and even the slightest increase in revs could prove a leaky seal.

Thats what its still do'ing
this is what the gasket on the cover looks like
https://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o297/Gfxs/DSC00256.jpg

Didnt have any easystart so used any other flammable spray
it was redlining really bad on its own, so cover off and sprayed some first time, and the bike started idling like it should. then after a min it redlines again i spray again and now it makes no difference...

Wow, that sounds tasty!

Looks like a derbi engine?

I had a senda with leaky crank seals. The first sign was the gear oil dropping, then the bike was harder to start as it lost compression.

Leak Down testing

Did the problem just start?

Ye same as the derbi senda the bike itself is a 05, running the Mineralli AM6 engine ran in the sendas and motorhispanias

I cant see gear oil leaking anywhere, and the bike always been a bit hard to start, need to get on the throttle a bit.

Well the problem has been here for a while but getting worse and worse, the local shop thought it was the needle valve bent as it was letting too much air through, that was replaced and it still happens so they think crank seals.

looked at that link
but how will i know if its crank, as i cant see that Laughing cheers

Gear oil will drop as the engine eats / sucks it in. No external leak.

Who has set the carb up?

Local bike shop, there not bad
Its got to be another airleak now hasnt it, because if i whip a ziptie over the airfilter to carb part and make it about half the size, no over revving....

I'd say there's errors how the carb is set up.

The shop rekons its too much air getting in,
The jets and needle are now pretty much spot on,
What else is there, the mixture is only on idle and 1/3 throttle int it.

Carb wise it could be the slide stop or the idle control circuit. Not sure which screw it is on your carb though . . .
