Ok so been thinking of making a free flow exhaust for the Gt for a while now and settled on a twin under seat jobby. Made from thin wall stainless pipe with a slight squash to make it a bit more oval, and a more straight through exhaust system leading to then can, so the gases come straight out the can. So instead of it been down the header in a spiral (no idea why) then out to the can after a few more twists and turns. It's just out the cylinder head, down the header, then run a near perfect straight line to the can with next to no twists or turns and the only bends will be the ones that a following the contours of the bike to get to the can. Because this should then let the engine breath a bit better, and therefore run better, with more power and more speed, ect. Will also find away of setting the n/p underneath the can so there is no cluttered look on the back end, and no big arse nob hanging out for the back light lol.
The materials shall be probably
4inch st/st pipe or a piece of stainless sheet rolled into a tube.
st/st mesh with 3mm hols in.
Also lots of shiny insulation tape to stop the bike lighting up lol.
Just got to wait for a copy of ProDesktop so i can design it all and then get it checked over by a friend, and then get the 125 sorted so the GT can go into storage for winter and be played with for next year.
But have a few questions about it to do with the Engine/Carbs/ect.
1. True/False Will blow up my engine?
2. True/False Will need to up jet carbs? Due to running lean?
3. What size up jet will be needed?
3. Anyone else ever made a Twin under seat? How it turn out?
4. Anyone got any other ideas that they think will look better?
criticism Welcome, tell me what you think please, don't want to make the thing then it look totally gash. Also I am a fabricator/welder with access to everything sheet metal work ect.
Cheers

If you want free flowing, it could be made so much easier, simpler and free flowing than under seat! The amount of unseen hassle with this is unreal. This is related to an SV1000, but the same problems remain! ____________________ TheShaggyDA: I've got 3 or 4 pairs that predate my wife, so at least 11.5 years old. |

Yeah it's hassle but if you do it right then it's worth it.
The exhaust on that SV is huge. ____________________ Go back to bed - You have no rights - "Streetfighters ~ Mainstream motorcycling's crackwhore sister." |

Do you mean twin pipes poking out behind the bellypan? Could look good. Is there even any way you could route the pipes under the tail?
How are you going to weld it? It'll take longer than you think, just incase you're planning on knocking it up over lunch at work. ____________________ Go back to bed - You have no rights - "Streetfighters ~ Mainstream motorcycling's crackwhore sister." |
