Are you planning on making a full system (headers + end can)?

The twists and turns are in the exhaust to keep each pipe the same length. With good quality mandrel bends they shouldn't slow the flow down. There will be more welding but if you purge it properly you won't get any of the sugaring on the back of the weld, that will mess with the flow.

Quote:
4inch st/st pipe or a piece of stainless sheet rolled into a tube.
st/st mesh with 3mm hols in.

Instead of rolling anything into a tube you can just take a piece of pipe, cut a section out of it, bend it how you want, weld it back up and polish the weld out. You can buy perforated tube instead of trying to roll that either.

One question: Why?

If you want free flowing, it could be made so much easier, simpler and free flowing than under seat! The amount of unseen hassle with this is unreal. This is related to an SV1000, but the same problems remain!

The carbs will most likely need to be upjetted. If you just do the exhaust you may be able to get away with just upping the idle screw and adjusting the needle, but it's different with every machine. If you also do any airbox mods, such as a K&N pod air filter, you will definitely need to upjet the carbs. I couldn't say how much. Maybe give a K&N dealer a call or anyone who makes strait through/race exhausts for your model.

Only other thing is be sure you have good clearances from everything, you don't want to melt anything under the seat, or excessively heat the tires ect.

Do you mean twin pipes poking out behind the bellypan? Could look good. Is there even any way you could route the pipes under the tail?

How are you going to weld it? It'll take longer than you think, just incase you're planning on knocking it up over lunch at work. Razz
