Right bit of a problem here guys

I was riding to work yesterday and wasnt exactly ragging it but as i got into town the bike seemed to be really sluggish, and the exhaust sounds shite it sounds like a big fart almost sounds like its gutless and the air is just falling out, Well you no what i mean it sounds shit. But if you knock it down 1 and it would still do it but then pull eventually. After work it started and ran perfectly went a longer way home to see if it was just the bike didnt like short journeys was going down the dual carriageway and happend to see an R6 And was bobbing along and it started doing it again.

When it starts playing up the bike is around 75/80 degrees and theres plenty of oil in it

Just wondering if you guys have had any similar problems or if you have any ideas on what it could be

Pisses me off as i like to think i look after my bike really well Sad

Not sure if it's related, but my SRAD does this in the lower rev range, it's sluggish but doesn't sound bad, then goes like a rocket.

this is apparently a trait of SRAD's with aftermarket cans and not being set up properly.

Sorry, not much help at all, but hope you get it sorted.

Hi

First thing to probably check is whether any of the headers are cooler than the others when it does it. Good sign if one (or more) cylinders are playing up.

All the best

Sounds like it could be a fuelling problem. I could always tell if my old Blade was going onto reserve as the exhaust note changed and went more, sort of, hollow, if that makes any sense.

Might be worth checking the carb balance and cleaning the carbs out.

Cheers

Ok.

My SRAD used to do exactly the same thing, ran like a dog unless you were giving it some stick, deterioroated so much that it just would cut out at sustained low revs, and then would not start.

I did the following to 'fix' it:

- Strip and clean carbs
- Change CDI
- Swapped plugs/leads
- Attacked it with a multimeter to find an electrical fault.

None worked.

Cylinder #2 was always cutting out (from feeling the downpipes as Kickstart said).

It used to stink of petrol too.

I eventually lost it, and took it to a garage.

The guy found that the fuel pump was continually pumping, oversupplying fuel to the carbs, which then was forced through into #2 cylinder (since it was the closest to the fuel line entry), flooding it. New fuel pump & relay/switch solved the problem.

If it stinks of fuel and it is #2 cylinder (2nd from the left as you sit on it) which cuts out, I would bet my ass this is the problem.

The guy I sold it to still says it's boggy low down, but it really needs setting up now, and I don't think the SRADs' motor will evre be smooth allthe way through - my 1991 FZR 600 pulls smoother than the SRAD ever did.
