The kelvin ratings have an inversely proportional relationship to luminosity mind. 4000K-12000K is just a band of the visible light spectrum with 3000K being representative of a yellow tinge and 12000K being purple. 12000K takes the piss by being too blue, it won't dazzle road users because the luminosity output is probably far less than standard bulbs. Try it, use a lux meter in the dark and compare the luminosity of the 4000K against the 12000K... Too many ebay ads try to mislead people. If you want cheap HID's, look on ebay for a seller called Diane Shop - just input HID Bike or HID BiXenon and it'll be a chinese seller, reasonable kits for 30 quid so if you want to give it a go, by all means, i was happy with the results. With HID's you need to adjust your beam aim so as not to dazzle other road users and technically they aren't road legal - but any bulb with a poorly adjusted beam or beam pattern is looking to get pulled. I've never had any problems with mine.
So, if you want luminosity, go for as close to 4000K as possible - 6000K is reckoned to be in the same spectrum as daylight, hence you will get a significant amount of light being projected.
The second link misleads you into being a HID kit. No WAY is a HID kit THAT cheap! Firstly, you need a ballast and a bulb kit which you need to retrofit onto your existing circuit. Please refer to the workshop section where i've help people point out the pros and con's of HID's, namely that they're illegal - but they're necessary if you do a lot of night rides/commutes through country roads.
If you want good quality bulbs, i'll give you some recommendations if you don't want the HID route
Philips Xtreme Vision
Osram Nightbreakers
Those are really bright and have the benfit of being road legal, pricy mind at 20-30 quid a pair.
Osram Silverstars
Philips Vision Plus
These don't output as much light as the previous range of bulbs but are still considerably good... i've had both vision plus, Xtreme visions and HID 6000K kits on my bike and for practicality, i'd go for the Xtreme visions as it's better than stock, but far less hassle than HID installations.

Probably go with the Phillips regular bulbs as its less hassle than fitting a HID kit in all honesty , where will i pick the Phillips bulbs up? ____________________ JACK, MISS YOU LOADS YOU LEGEND. |
