Best budget alarm?

Dont want to spend a fortune as the bike really didn't cost me very much but would like something that will wake me up if any pikeys decide to try and walk off with my bike during the night. Ease of fitting/ setting up also a priority. All suggestions and recommendations greatly appreciated

A few of my mates have used the Cyclone alarm without any problems. Can be a bit tricky to wire up I've heard though.

Personally I think the money's better spent on physical security and a tracker, but it's your choice.

Get a big chain and an alarm disc lock. Cheap alarms go wrong and also drain your battery, I've removed loads of alarms in my time and the cheap ones go wrong the most often.

At least if your disc lock alarm goes wrong, you can take it off and throw it away.

I still reckon there's a market for a subtle sensor pad type alarm, waterproof and can be incorporated into a flor mat or similar. Wire that into an in-house alarm and you could be warned without the thieves being any the wiser.

Have it tied down to a ground anchor with a decent chain but more wanted something to make a noise if anyone tried to move it - will look into disc alarms. Cheers

I bought the Cyclone Alarm C-11 a few months back and its been fine so far.
The imobiliser and alarm both work a treat and the siren is very loud.
i've also got a disc lock for when i'm out and a chain for at home.

Nothings gonna stop a pro but for your average pikey scrote should be ok.

At least if someone tries to nick it the screaming alarm should make their ears bleed and give you warning so you can re-educate them with barbara the baseball bat

my friend bought a 60 quid alarm and it cost 250 to fit lol. the mechanics actually said it took them 8 hours and should have charged him more. they also said it would be a lot easier to break into then a datatool alarm.

Cyclone alarms are good until they fry two of your batteries when you try and plug in the stater bypass for the remote start. I think it was a duff relay but we could never get to the end of it. It was crap enough to fry and drain 2 Yuasa batteries within a matter of 2 months so be very careful when you want to chop into your wiring loom. Best bet is to just run the alarm parallel with the battery and not have an immobiliser! Just have a good disk lock like a motrax vishas instead to do the immobilising. But for 20 quid, the cyclone alarms do the job

i never bothered with the remote start cr@p as it seems utterly pointless other that to show off.

I spliced mine into the ignition after the fuse which is blown so the bike can only start with the remote.

Battery has been ok but i commute daily so it always gets a good run at least once a day.

Yea, I have to be careful to make sure I don't leave it in gear, especially when parked near shiny cars.
Would some times leave choke on as appropriate, though (not that I've tried yet) that should be an advantage with FI bikes which tend to start and stay running much better.

My Cyclone C11 works a treat. I never bothered to wire in the remote start, yet oddly enough it works anyway. I queried it with the website I bought it from, and apparently they activate the remote start before they send it, so you don't have to wire it in.

The remote start is actually very useful - I just leave the exhaust poking out from under the cover, and I can start the bike up from indoors and leave it to warm up while I'm getting ready. It also has entertainment value for making random people jump as the bike they're walking past spontaneously bursts into life. Best to only do this with a front-heavy bike on the centre stand though, just in case some chav knocked it into gear while you were away.

The only downside is that I'm now constantly pulling into fuel stations, only to realise that I can't open the tank because the keys are still at home.

Remote start got disconnected very quickly on mine when i rode to matlock minus a key + fob

started bike, kitted up, wheeled bike out of garage, shut door, rode off, got to matlock, in gear, sidestand down, BUGGER! I`ve left the keys in the garage.

I had the huatai pager alarm on mine no probs at all apart from the tool operating it

well mine just earned itself a couple of brownie points

parked up in reading town (by the library for the locals) and on return to the bike a group of chav scum strokers is plodding along dragging knuckles the usual sh!te.

as they reach the bike park they slowed and were "inspecting" each bike kicking the tyres etc.
so i slowed and watched keyfob in hand and as one of them squatted down to inspect my bike set off the alarm.

little f@cker nearly shat himself and the others pulled their baggy jeans up nearly tripping over themselves to get away.

so as a deterrent it works pretty good for 20 quid
