i have a air cooled Piaggio nrg power MC3 2004 model. i have had so many problems getting it up to speed. when i brought it at 7000 miles i was maxing at 38mph on flat and i was told it was restricted. i took it to the garage and they sed it was fully derestricted including the vairator thing that u need to do. and the exhaust was. i ended up buying a giannelli exhaust. and it still hits 38mph on the flat but the accelereation is beter. i then put a 70 kit on and hit 52mph. it must go faster!! HELP!

lol there known for being fast yet it has no power??
currnetly i have taken the 70 kit off as the oil messed up and messed the 70 kit up so its running on a normal 50cc cylender and the ginnelli ehaust still hitting 38mph. but hitting 8000 revs still. sometimes over. really need help and would appreciate it !!

thanks!!

Did you re-jet it when you changed the exhaust? That could be why the 70cc kit got damaged.

To be fair, 52mph aint bad for a 70cc scooter, you'll be limited by the gearing of the clutch anyway.

Cheers

i dont think it got rejetted. but the 70 kit got ruined because of the oil. its still a mystery to me how the oil got in because i put green oil in and there was a very thin yellowy oil in there. which was sadly the cause Sad. u think rejetting the carbs might help?

green oil ?

it was two stroke right Neutral

the varaitor stops the ped from getting into its highest gear so yes top speed will be limited with it on , buy a impact driver/ air gun and its a ten minuite job Thumbs Up

what 70 kit ? is it scored ? did you upjet ? how much by ? if you didnt then Brick Wall

step away from your spanners till you understand a 2 stroke engine

nope it was yellow. and yes it was 2 stroke oil definiatly. it was a malosi 70 kit and it was compeltly scored wen they took it off. i dont do the stuff my self the garage does. my dad told me they have been doing it for over 10 years which is why i went to them. i trust they have knowledge. just not enough in peds because they specialise in racing bikes. i dont no enough about peds to do it myself. altho all the things ive tryed with mine im startin to understnad :p lol.

im not sure about the upjetting but i will definatly ask them. what impact driver or air gun should i buy? any recommendations? what will the speed be after? given im doin 52 on a 70 kit.

i took the 70 kit off because my engine just competly cut out on me and wouldnt start.. the 70 kit was ruined SadSad

thanks !

see i know nothing about peds, i just realised ive asked u to give me a good make of a impact driver. which is infact not a moped part. its a tool -.- lol my fault Sad when i took it in. the first thing they did was something wit the variator. i dont remember exactly but thye told me they pushed it right to the top?

lol i had a steep learnin cruve with my first engine too

first of all if the grage didnt upjet your carb when they fitted the carb then they owe you a new kit , its obvious to even someone with a small bit of engine knowledge that it would run lean and blow it , if you tell them this any mechanics normall response would be "well you obviously didnt run it in and ragged it" dont take this they owe you a new kit end of

fit some 5.0 gram rollers in the variator and upjet by 5% ( will be about 3 sizes on a tiny carb) www.beedspeed.com will sort you out with these parts and there dead easy to fit

Thumbs Up

errrr , the restrictive washer stops the belt from reaching the top of the variator and pushing the pulleys apart restricting it from top gear , sounds like they did the right thing but with the carb thing god knows what they did Confused

yup and thats all high flow air filters do , they waste petrol and provide barely any bhp gains unless its a very highly tuned engine , did your mate upjet otherwise his engine will blow too Confused

5g is only a rough ball park figure , with the 70 kit fitted it will be more like 4.5 youll need , your best bet is to buy a box of various roller weights of www.scooter-attack.com or https://www.adrenalin-pedstop.co.uk/ and just experiment till the best acceleration and topspeed is found , light rollers will cause overrevving and heavy rollers cause underreving and acceleration will be poor

it might also be worth getting a 17.5 carb as the 12mm stock one is pretty much a restriction in its self

Take it you've done rollers and springs? To be honest the speed you mentioned is as much your going to get with a basic 70. Want more topend, get a gear up. Bigger carb wouldnt go a miss either. Thumbs Up

the giannelli rollers that came with the exhaust were 4g and they slowed my bike down from its top speed and the acceleration was poor. my old rollers were better, i will find out what wiegth they are soon, ill ask the garage.. you think a bigger carb then ? how much should i be looking at, fitting and buyin the part. thanks.

gear-up just a new set of gears designed for a higher top speed , it would be a waste of money on that set up though so forget about it , you can reach roughly 65mph on the standard gearing

yeah 4gs is probably too light for a pretty much stock setup

17.5 carb shouldnt cost much, there standard on gilera rnners and aprilia sr's past 05 probly about 15-20 quid , plus a tenner for a box of jets

rebore and a new piston for the malossi sport kit should cost around 50 quid and rollersa are about a tenner , clutch springs will cost about a fiver and will help acceleration loads and itl love the back wheel Wink

dont have a clue how much a garage will charge to fix it , ive never been to one in my life , amateur mechanics for the win !

I can't comment on your particular model but i got away without upjetting my old Yamaha BW50 to a 70cc.

It wasn't plain sailing though;
- first 70cc kit ran very slowly before going kaput due to piston ring having snapped.
- second kit ran fine but took ages to hit top speed due to the carb being hard to tune to the sport pipe.

Eventually the best setup was 70cc kit, std carb, std airbox and the std exhaust derestricted...no contest and it was quiet.

TBH the top speeds you are quoting are about right so either the garage duffed up fitting the cylinder and/or you carb needs adjusted/replaced - i'd go buy another 70cc kit and the matching Malossi carb kit for you bike so no mucking about.

im pretty sure the 05 bikes were the first to have a 17.5

dont buy a malossi carb kit there just re badged dellortos

and do upjet , you cant get away with it u33db your bike must of been running rich in the first place or the 70 kit was so poor

standard gearing is good for 60mph defentley 65 might be pushing it but i said roguhly so Middle Finger Wink

no malossi lol

standard jet would be 56 then , go for 59 mj and 5g rollers for jsut the pipe and try a 90 mj for the pipe and the 70 kit , take it out for a small ride then check plug if its black go down by a few sizes on the mj until the plugs nice and cholaty brown
