hi guys. i'm from london and am thinking of going to the nec show this year.

i have 3 coleagues who work in our opticians with 125's (only had them about 3 months) and one has a hornet 600. we were planning to ride it up there but decided on our cbr 125's and rs 125 it wouldn't really be a good idea.

anyway now they have doubts if it is worth it. i have never been but i am telling them that us 5 altogether can get some good bargains.

so anyway, how much better is the nec show to the mcn in london?

what bargains have you had from there too?

Me and my friend are wondering the same thing dude. We both live in east london and have 125's. and we want to go to the NEC. Might take ages going at 50/60mph on A roads to get there... He's passed his test, but I'm on CBT.
Try and find out if they do any train ticket offers in conjunction with entry tickets?

May aswell wait till the MCN one in london, it's a better time of year to go as end of march/april the weather starts picking up again and ALL the 09 bikes will be there. You can get pretty good bargains, but easier to wait till march and get some cheap leathers for summer.

MCN is at the moment 29th jan - 1st Feb... Maybe they'll add longer dates nearer to the time.

Ah my mistake, it was around march the other year i think. Still, it's not worth all the extra mileage just to go 2 months before the MCN one then.

I'll be going up there with my OH during the week, not sure whether we will be driving or riding. Will be also visiting his sister who lives up there so we have 2 reasons to justify the extra mileage (Essex to Brummie)... First time for me so I hope it's worth it

Last year i went to it and was really dissapointed to be honest as it seemed they had a huge budget cut for the event. Though the year before for both the NEC and Excel were really good. I might pop up this year in the hope its improved a bit, though it is a long old journey.

Me and a mate are thinking of going to the show on the 29th November and fitting in some riding and camping around it. Only gotta go from Lincoln though so it's only 80 miles, closer than the London one for us. He's on L-plates so no motorway but as we're making a thing of the riding part of the trip I think that's in no way a disadvantage.

Also, if you're going in the car it's £8 to get parked Surprised.

I've never been to the bike show at the NEC, but I went to the car show quite a few years ago and I loved every minute of it. I'm thinking if the show is shit we'll still have a good trip, and hopefully it will be a bit easier to get a test ride. I see on the web site Triumph will have a Rocket III demonstator there Twisted Evil.

I'm going up but not necessarily to buy anything.

I need a 1 piece and it's a good place to go to get such a variety of brands and stock in one place. There are some good deals, but I'm on no hurry.

I haven't been for a few years because it started going downhill, looks like I'll be going on the 2nd though so hopefully it's improved.

I'm only going so I can sit and laugh at the social rejects posing for pictures with the girls pretending to be interested.

I only go when there is a list of stuff I want to get, then it makes it worth it. But if that were the case, then I wouldn't go on two wheels - otherwise how am I supposed to take everything home?

But considering you live in London, I'd wait for that one...

Paying money to go and look at an overblown bike showroom with women who are apparently "attractive" getting in the way of me sitting on the bikes?
Wait until next spring then just go in to your dealers, pull a sickie if neesbe.

Does that answer your question enough...?

Not quite.

However, I think if I went to another bike show and saw those apparently 'attractive' (and I use that term very loosely) promotion girls then I may well turn.

Hi

Haven't been the the new show in the middle of London. Can't be bothered to struggle into London much, least of all for a little regional show. Used to go to the Ally Pally show occasionally (the central London show replaced the Ally Pally show, which used to be the road race show until MCN got their teeth into it).

NEC show is far bigger than the Ally Pally show. At least 3 times the size.

The amount of bargains varies. Sometimes there are some good bargains, sometimes not.

All the best

Keith

i went to the london excel centre. it's not really central london i think. i live in hackney and we took the a 13 or something and got their in 15 mins. it was better than ally pally because of the location and the place is pretty much a big place that does other shows too. maybe like a mini nec centre i am guessing. i went to see amir khan fight there once and my boss mentioned it had a furniture show thing. definitely worth going. the facilities are better also. however people talk about the nec like it is the dogs bullocks so that got me interested even though it is kinda far

Good for you, the one time of the year when you can really kick back and unwind with others that are just like you.

Awww how cute, the only response you could come up with was to edit my quote.

Don't worry mac, I'm sure I'm wrong and the girls that are paid to pose with you actually are interested in your menial life.

The end of the day is best for bargains. Depends what you're going there for...
