I'm not riding the RS through the winter, want to avoid adding miles to it before I sell it next April. Anyway, it's just going to be sitting in the drive through the week, and i'll take it out once every weekend to keep it going. Is there anything I should be doing with it being this cold and it only being used at the weekend. Any reason to maybe start it once in the middle of the week or anything along those lines. Suppose i'm asking, will it be ok to just leave it there doing nothing inbetween weekend rides.
Forgive my ignorance |

Give it a good, thorough wash, remove the battery and optimate it if you have one, give it a good spray with either ACF 50 or Scottoil F365, cover it up and don't forget to move it forward every couple of weeks or so to prevent the tyres getting a flat spot.
There is porbably more you could do but the above should prevent it from getting covered with corrosion and ensure it fires up straight away when the time comes.
:EDIT: Should add, make sure you change all the oils come ressurection time, the condensation over winter may well have added a bit of water to all the lubes! Suppose being a stroker, you only have gear oil to worry about on that one. ____________________ "THOSE WHO RISK NOTHING, DO NOTHING, ACHIEVE NOTHING, BECOME NOTHING." |

I would probably ensure the tyres are up to correct PSI , to prevent degradation and rotate them every now and again so the contact patch changes.
Also if you can wrap the tyres as UV light destroys them and causes them to degrade sort of like rubber bands left in the sunlight. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. If you don't want to put on any miles, just remove the speedo cable . Keep using it and it'll be fine although I reckon it'll be fine with the occasional start up anyway.
Keep the bike covered even if it's in a garage. Get some SDoc 100 bike cleaner and rinse the bike down with that just to wash the salt off. ____________________ The Tot 2019 Z1000SX - 2007 R1

Will just say that with older cars, the accepted wisdom was that if you were going to start them, make sure that you got them up to temperature and took them for a bit of a run. Not just fire them up for a minute or two as that does more harm than good.
I am rough on my machines and just neglect them over winter and sort it out in the summer ____________________ Regards, Dave. |
