Hi all, yet another problem Sad

I tried to start my bike on Monday (i think) when it first started to snow, just thought it was because it was very cold.

It turned over a couple of times, then started to make this buzz. Sounded like something electrical was going on, hard to describe apart from saying "DZZZZ DZZZZ DZZZZ".

Still not starting even though the weather isnt as bad as Monday, any one have any idea what this could be at all?

Cheers

Agreed. Sounds like a flat battery. 'tis the season for them.

When a battery is too flat to turn over the starter motor, it makes the solenoid click rapidly on and off resulting in a buzzing noise.

hmm i would agree but can still turn lights on. Does starting the engine require a lot more power than having the lights on for a short period of time?

Yes. Lots more.

If it isn't too icey, you could always try bump-starting it.

Flat battery is the simplest and most obvious explanation, as such, it should be the first one you eliminate.

Ok cheers guys, have a charger of sort due to the fitted alarm. There is a cable under the seat to drip charge it or something. Will try that.

Now on to the CG Razz

The presence of an alarm makes it even more likely to be the battery.

Until you go away for a few days and your battery dies.

Optimates charge a battery slowly to about 14.2V, which causes the plates to coat in sulphate. This eventually kills the battery but you don't know about it until you don't have the charger available.

Cheers
