Snap on set, worth going for it?

I'd go for the halfords personally.... get the pro stuff and it's just as good for home use IMO! I've never had a problem with it and can't reccomend it enough. Lifetime guarantee too and you'll get more for your money.

Unless you're a pro using the tools every single day for heavy use, I'd say go for the Halfords stuff.

It's an urban myth that Blue Point is Snap on when it's not. Blue point stuff is the stuff that is sold by Snap On dealers that the company buys in, and it's not up to the same quality hence the name change. It only has a 12 month warranty and generally only from the supplying dealer as you need proof of purchase.
I own a shit load of Snap on gear as I am a professional mechanic and as such I buy the best tools for the job, but TBH for that money I would be looking at Halfords Pro too as for the money and backup you get it's hard to beat.

Blue Point is not bad stuff, but as mentioned it is not the real Snap On stuff.

That kit might well be not bad, but not sure I would pay that much for it (could get perfectly adequate tools to do the same job for me for far less). 1/4" drive stuff is on limited use. The Halfords kit for about the same price would be far more useful.

Although the Snap-On is definately better quality, Halfords are not rubbish by any means.

I think some of their larger sets are actually very good value for money.

If you find you are continuously breaking or wearing into/using certain peices, replace them with a snap on tool, this way you will have avoided paying top dollar for stuff you don't need, but if you do need it, you still have it.

I have this set and it's a really good set. Shop around though because there's offers on the Snap-On van at the moment for the 1/4 and 3/8 for £150.
