What the buggery?

Bit of a problem - not sure whats going on...

I was riding my bike back from climbing yesterday and it was pissing down with rain - everything was fine for the first 5 or 10 minutes, but then I was just pulling away in a traffic jam when the revs went right down. I pushed the bike to the side of the road where it stalled.

I started it again and tried to give it some throttle in neutral, but it wasn't really having it - revs would build up and then go right down again.

To cut a long story short, it eventually got going again and riding it today, everything was fine. Better even.

I also noticed the engine sounded like it was making a sort of knocking sound...the only conclusion I can come to is that water was getting in the air filter or something?

I've got a Yamaha Virago 125 btw, if that makes any difference. And the oil was changed the day before.

could be an electrical problem

check spark plug(s) and HT lead(s) to make sure theres no water.try spraying a bit of WD40 in these areas to displace any water and see how that works

Electrical so not major.
HT leads leaking juice sounds feasible, could be an ignition coil on the way out.

Sometimes they behave strange on & off for a while before giving up completely.

I think it must be water getting into the spark plugs as it only happened once and while it was pissing down - it was dry today and everything was perfect.
