Using ACF50 - oh my fuck...

Well since I posted the last message on this topic I've ridden in this morning on what feels like solid ice with no brakes!!

I must've got loads of it over the brake discs and tyres though I tried my best not too, and they literally hardly work at all. After 30mins of stop start traffic the brakes eventually got to about 60-70% efficiency - still crap though, and the tyres seem fine now but I'm taking no risks.
The other thing was starting up this morning, I had the stuff all over the exhausts so I was expecting a bit of smoking but hell my bike disappeared in it for a while!! Ended up looking more like the video for Bat out of Hell! It then stank all the way into work and I was getting funny looks stopped at lights with my bike smoking - that was funny!

Guess I'll be a little more restraint in using the stuff next time, I'd imagine the bike is now well protected for the next few years though!

Did you spray it straight on, or spray it onto a cloth then wipe it on?

If you did the former than that's why it's all over your brakes.

Lol, well I did both - sprayed it on the bike and also on a cloth to wipe it around... then sprayed a bit more on the bike for extra rust proofing luck - I'm thinking I might need even more luck now!!

Your problem is that if you've left the oil to soak into the pads you probably won't ever get back to 100% performance until you change them...

Daft, really.

With anything like this, you give the bike a run round the block first.

Common sense, really. You've interefered with the breaking system: you test it first in a safe environment.

You don't go on a 30 min + journey and hope that the problem magically fixes itself moments before you've got to stop on a penny for the pedestrian that ran in front of you.

Always spray onto a cloth - and dab on the calipers.
Had some guy recently complain that his brakes felt worse after using the spray.
But he sprayed directly onto the wheel which spattered up into the brakes.
A little commen sence goes a long way

Always sprayed it onto a rag and wiped.
Otherwise sprayed into the cap and used a paintbrush for the harder to reach areas.

I spray it on my back wheel, but with a straw so I can control it (drum on the back). Would never ever spray it anywhere near the brake discs.

I remember getting WD40 on my rear disk once, I knew it had happened, going along a quite bit of road up to around 70 or so. Put the back brake on, nothing happening, so properly put it on and just let that slow me down, it did eventually wear off I had to do it a couple more time though.

Use less ACF50 next time.

I had done that before hand but I wanted to see how bad it really was. I had them full on for about 5 seconds (at 70mph) and nothing was happening

I am sure if you had a bike that did 70 chives you would
