so im going along, its fine at low-medium revs.

if i go close to the redline, its ok for a bit, maybe get a few wheelies out of it before problems start.

starts to run on 3, then gets progressively worse until my 600 becomes a 300 twin and i have to limp home, cutting out several times and being an absolute twunt to start again.

leave it at low RPM for a bit (about 2-3 minutes), and its fine again until the next time. its also starting and running fine before this happens, so i think compression is fine etc, engine is at operating temperature etc.

its getting really irritating as its ruining the few dry days i've had to hooligan around traffic, wheelie-filtering.

SRAD 6, '97

tried with the fuel cap open, and its still the same. no kinks in the fuel lines etc.

Hi

Could be. Could also be a fuel filter that is getting blocked.

All the best

Aye could be the pump. why don't you disconnect it from the output side and turn the motor over on the button you should be able to measure or at least see it pumping a fair amount of fuel. I just had one fail on my old 95 blade but it was still able to limp me home with the pump shot.

I know the blade only fires the pump every time number one cylinder sparks..but I think on my old 99 SRAD the pump was more the keeps going till it builds pressure type.

Could be pump but i would suggest carb.
Check float height and your needle valve (under the float) check to see if you have crap in your float bowls, if you have it could cause a similar problem.
As to the float height issue, if they are incorrect it will cause there to be insufficent fuel delivery to the engine until the level reachs it normal height, which is a similar affect as the fuel pump (lack of fuel).
hope these idea's put you in the right direction.

big_ham, after todays tests i think i can eliminate the coils as the problem. motorway speeds, like 70mph, its absolutely fine for about a mile, then the throttle starts to get less responsive, then slowly grinds to a halt. classic fuel starvation symptoms.

as for the carbs, its been running 100% up until recently, and runs fine until the starvation occurs.

i'll whip off the bowls when i can be arsed, and have a look.

the odd thing is, its all started since putting a shot of redex through it :S

since then i've been through 2 normal tanks of fuel.

solved it.
checked the fuel lines properly, the main line wasnt on fully, meaning the stopcock in the line wasnt being pressed in, so fuel was being stopped.
