I don't do NYR's because I don't think anything special happens over night that would suddenly mean you can stick to something that you've spent the previous 12 months failing at.

I do however have targets every year, update them and add more if I meet what I have on the list at the start of the year. I'm not too strict with time limits etc but I have a vague idea in my head and work towards them as quick as I can.

Some things on the 2009 list at the moment include things as simple as

fix and sell my van
finish decorating bedroom

to the more important

pass final elec exam on jan 19th
pass 2391 testing exam
pass 17th edition course
get pay rise

then theres the

save at least £10,000 towards house deposit

I have no doubt that I'll be looking for new targets to meet by summer! Targets work... NYR's don't!

I too will be making more music this year, and go walking more. Not as a new year's resolution, but as a general "that's what I'm doing next" kind of thing.

My targets for the new year are to pass my car test (10th january) and get another bike....and most importantly, not try to kill myself again on the bike Laughing

Other than that, nothing really. I guess i can say my target is to get back to work but that is going to happen sometime in 2009, just don't know when. Hopefully finish physio next year aswell, but i don't know whether that will happen Sad Shocked

I like sparks! take on things.

My goals will be:

Quit the tabs
Get back in the gym and lose some of this christmas ham
Pass full bike licence and get a 500cc bike
Learn guitar theory
Learn how to use my new guitar FX pedal properly and start making some tracks (with my new guitar theory knowledge!)
Organize my MSc work more efficiently
Start saving considerable money instead of blowing it all most of the time
Move out of the folks home.

I think most of these are about having the time to set aside to dedicate to the cause, but money issues are a big one this year as I've been living off my overdraft for the past 3 years and want to start actually having a considerable amount of money I can actually call 'savings'.

As a few above have said, I don't really do New Years Resolutions so just set targets, which are currently;

1) Stop changing jobs - I'm changing jobs now - For the 3rd time this year - but am planning to stick this time, each time I've got headhunted for a good amount of money more (more than doubled my wage in the last year).

2) Bike Project- I have a sheet of about £2k worth of work to do to the bike, suppose most of it doesn't need doing but would like to get it done for a completeness point of view, money will get new shock, suspension setup properly for my weight/riding technique, new exhaust, pc3 & k&n filter, few other bits on the list but mainly cosmetic.

3) Finances - Clear up any loans/Credit Cards - Only have <£1k on Credit Cards and 1 Loan that has £500 left so might just pay it off. Ideally though, want the credit cards clear at the start of each month, also want to save more money.

4) Travel - Try and travel as much as I did this year - I done Thailand, Egypt, Germany, France and Dublin and enjoyed it so want to do a similar amount next year

5) Women - and to ensure all of the above gets screwed up for me, I want to try and find a half decent Woman and settle a little more rather than running around like an 18yr old now I'm 23 and rapidly approaching 24.

If half of that comes off I'll be happy, main priorities are sticking in the job for longer and the bike project - the others are just nice to haves Thumbs Up

Have a super awesome adventure holiday(s) on the bike or in the car, wherever I can afford during the black summer of the 2009 recession.

Have firm plans to depart this country set in place by the end of 2009.

Find a woman who isn't a total nutcase, though i'm not sure this one is going to be possible.

Oh and fix the VFR, only been 4years.

I havnt thought of this this year. Usually its the same shit every year like excercise, get out more, drink and have fun but that never happens. Now my life will totally change so I dont know what to begin with. I will say again I will get out more, I want a new bike (as if) I want to so my car and bike test, be a good parent (thats a new one!) I will enjoy drinking ! all them years wasted having a sip and giving up because I felt sick. I am the queen of throwing up now I can handle it Mr. Green I probably wont ever get time for that little bottle of west coast cooler I promiced myself.

I want to go go karting! thanks SoND for putting that in my head again, I will invite you though I want to trash your ass on that track! I need to get some agression out.
