Its £20 what do you think?

Can't seem to imagine what it'd look like on a bike.

Remember off-road stuff tends to be cheaper. Should be able to get acceptable quality for £20.

Savings can be had by buying off-road stuff because it doesn't have the same requirements for testing, R&D etc of something similar developed for the road.

Having said that, with it being for off-road use, it won't be E-marked. Kind of a legal grey area, because if it works adequately and the bike you're using it on passes an MOT, really it doesn't need to be.

Eh? If anything, off-road stuff will have more R&D because it tends to have to deal with much harsher situations.

The only reason I can see someone adding such a tail light on to their off-road bike would be to make it road legal, so I don't see there being and lower chance of it being not e-marked than a similar LED light or similar for a road bike.

I suspect off-road stuff is often cheaper because the market demands it; also parts tend to be more generic.

Ah, I assumed that by off-road you meant not for road use (ie not road legal), rather than designed for use on an off-road bike.

From my experience I've found off-road clothing/helmets etc are cheaper than say CE approved stuff, which was why I said about R&D etc. I guess I wrongly generalised my opinion for it to include off-road parts as well.

As far as off-road clothing/helmets go (as in for dirt riding); all the helmets I've seen are rated to the same standards as road helmets pretty much. There is more cheaper armour available for off-road riding, but there's also a lot of very expensive stuff too... for instance you can easily pay £500 for a pair of knee braces; up to something like £1500 for a set of carbon fibre ones!
