I officially have a new found respect for anyone who's suffering out this weather on their motorcycle. The walk from my house to my car is hard enough . This weather is ridiculous. ____________________ I Ride: Honda CBR 400RR.

I fell over walking down the road yesterday. They don't grit my road or the one next to it so I've chickened out. ____________________ current: ducati monster 750

Not really that bad with the right kit .
Roadcrafter one piece suit and just added some bar-muffs as my hands were the only bits suffering. Ok, I did crash last night, but my rear tyre is probably getting on for ten years old!.. and frankly I'd worry more if I was out in my car!
Probably be cold for longer in the car as you have to wait for it to heat up etc . |

I'm still out on it, although not when it's snowed and the road is slushy. Got a new set of textiles recently which are a million times better so this winter feels warmer than last years |

Still doing my 60 mile roundtrip commute on my trusty 125. The low power is good for slippery roads IMO. Bar muffs, thermal liners in my REV'IT textile 2-piece, balaclava, 2 pairs of socks on, Pinlock in the visor. I recently reproofed the jacket and trousers with NikWax so I think I'm ready for the worst of the wetness.
It's not too bad, apart from the ice/snow on the visor on Monday morning and numb fingertips after doing 60mph down dual carriageways for half an hour. ____________________ CBT February 2008 | A2 June 2008 | Yamaha YBR125 (written off) | Honda CBF125 (current) |

i am but i am checking out ebay for a bicycle. i need to warm my body up through exercise. plus my sidi's boots had no grip when it was icy so i couldn't go backwards which caused a few problems. ____________________ Hit the G spot. |

I'm still riding, though I did almost drop the bike pushing it into the garage at work this morning as I was the only one coming in on a bike, so the ramp hadn't been gritted ____________________ Current: Suzuki RG 125 Gamma, Honda H100, Triumph Tiger 800XC, Suzuki SV650 (minitwin) |

I would have rode to work yesterday but it was so cold
(the bike's dash reckoned -4) that my battery didn't have enough oomph to actually turn the engine over
As G says, with some warm gear it and a careful hand it's not an issue. ____________________ 2010 Triumph 1050 Sprint ST |

I've been riding through summer and winter for a couple of years now and this year is no different - apart from being my first winter on a 650 instead of a 125 or 50 moped!
Haven't noticed a massive difference with the SLR other than it goes a lot faster and gets me colder quicker! An extra top under my jacket and the heated grips see to that though. Otherwise I've had fun slithering around getting up hills in the snow, pretending to be a snail on roundabouts in case of ice, and getting pissed off with not being able to filter when there was too much snow inbetween lanes.
I'd hate to ride on anything less than my SLR's chunky tyres though, they just ooze confidence and I've only fishtailed a small amount a couple of times when cornering and hitting slippy patches.
Everytime I think about using the car because it's cold I remember the traffic of the day before all stuck in jams and bored senseless, then I get the bike out and do the journey in half the time!

Never looked into that issue, but it's a pig to start when it's cold and the batterys weak, thats for sure, it's rather annoying timing to need a new battery as I've just thrown a couple of hundred quick at some new mirrors and a replacement fairing panel.
(Didn't drop it, but rather wierdly, all the gloss and half the paint has practically fallen off the right hand side fairing middle section, almost like it's been getting far too hot except it hasn't ) ____________________ 2010 Triumph 1050 Sprint ST |
