As we know, Eurosport has sadly lost coverage of the MotoGP this year and as far as I can see, the only way we can now watch anything other than the main race (ie qualifying + support races) is behind the red button, and the BBC have replied to my e-mail about this saying you can only record behind the red button if you're watching it at the time....

Does anyone know any other way of recording qualifying + support races? ie online (can that be set up in advance?) or know of any other channel on Sky which might be showing it, so I'm not tied to my TV for the 2009 season?!

ta very much
Smile

I think that the red button just sends you to channels 301 or 302 so you can in theory record it. The problem is they dont tell you in advance which channel they're using. I've recorded qualifying on my humax hdd recorder by just setting the timer to record both channels at the time the qualifying session is on. Bit hit and miss though.
If the bbc could tell us which channel it's being broadcast on, and what time it'll be simple.

Erm,
Dunno. I only have freeview. If i press the red button it goes to either of those channels. I imagine sky works the same way.

Might have to get freeview as well then I guess - this is what it says about digital...

With digital TV, you can record anything that appears on the screen, including interactive services. So, for example, you can record extra news or sports coverage to watch later. However, you will not be able to use other interactive features (such as voting) that only function at the time of broadcast.

I'd recommend a humax freeview hdd recorder (pvr9300t) for this. Thats what i use. Simple to use and a twin tuner so you can watch other channels while recording.

Racing underground are bound to have every race (and whatever else the beeb broadcast) to download within a few hours of it going out. That said they're not accepting new users currently, but are supposed to be sorting out an invitation system soon.

Channels 301 and 302 are available via freeview you can record.

Usually a list of the scheduled timings is on the bbc.co.uk website under the Moto gp section.

An interesting read, but it's clear that nothing's going to change. Here's hoping that Ryder and Moody move over to WSB and Whitham and Burnicle cover BSB. That'd do me as a replacement for MotoGP quite nicely.

British Eurosport will continue to broadcast MotoGP coverage in 2009 alongside the BBC, the sport's rights-holder Dorna has announced.

It had been thought that Eurosport's long relationship with MotoGP would end this season as Dorna pushed to ensure that live race coverage was on free to air television whenever possible.

This saw the BBC awarded exclusive UK broadcast rights for the MotoGP races, but British Eurosport has now completed a deal to show all Friday and Saturday practice sessions, and the 125cc and 250cc races, live plus slightly delayed coverage of all the MotoGP races. These will be broadcast just after the BBC's live race coverage has finished.

Autosport.com's MotoGP correspondent Toby Moody will remain part of the British Eurosport commentary team.

Excellent news, I'd prefer to watch it a bit late than listen to those boring gits on the BBC!

Good decision by Dorna Smile

On race day I will be training myself not to listen to the radio, watch telly news etc. Don't want any spoilers.

Anyone know if eurosport have retained Mamola?
Welcome back Toby & Julian Thumbs Up

This is an odd day.

Quote:
Melandri to start 2009 MotoGP season in one-rider team
Newsflash, 25 February 2009
FEBRUARY 26, 2009 - Kawasaki announces that after constructive talks between Kawasaki, Dorna and other involved parties, a new one-rider Team will participate in the 2009 MotoGP Championship season.
This decision was made after negotiations that followed Kawasaki’s January 2009 announcement to suspend its factory supported MotoGP activities due to the economic crisis. Rider for the new MotoGP team will be the Italian Marco Melandri.
The team will be equipped with Kawasaki motorcycles and supporting materials.
That Kawasaki has come to this new team approach is the result of on the one hand the need for a strong reduction of MotoGP racing investments and on the other hand the necessity to come to constructive solutions for all related parties.
The new team will disclose more details about its 2009 season’s plans on a short notice.

Fantastic news but I'd much rather Hopper got the ride. Being Spanish pays in MotoGP.

Melandri is Italian.
I'd sooner see Melandri on the bike than Hopper. I know he had a crap year in 08, but he's got far more potential than Hopkins.

Just seen that racing is on BBC3 - which is odd, but superb for me, as I have a Freeview harddrive - so I can record it and watch it later. Thumbs Up
