Hi all,

I've got a zx6r b1h 03, which i bought in sept 08.. I dont know a great deal about servicing the bikes etc, only basics..

Basically i think the owner before me had changed the sprocket and put one on for acceleration

I'm constantly having to change up because i dont get much through each gear before its revving high.

I need advice on what sprocket to get in order to get a more fluent drive, without having to change up every 2 seconds.

Advice would be helpfull,

Thanks, Dan

Well what's on it at the moment.

I suspect the previous owner went one down on the gearbox sprocket(the small sprocket) so order one with one tooth more on it. Thumbs Up

Going down one on the front sprocket is quite a common mod on the B1 I've noticed.

Yeah I know it's a 600. I'm not specifically saying how many revs its exceeding by, im just generally saying.

Okay for example, if i sit at 50mph in 6th gear, its hitting about 6k rpm, now on my mates er6n, he goes about 70 and its only sitting at 4 and a half

Can't comment for a ZX6 but on my CBR600RR it sits at about 6k at 70 so unless they are very different then that seems quite low.

Bear in mind mate you're comparing it to an ER6? At the end of the day it is a high revving sports bike, it might be supposed to be like that.

I felt the same on my ZXR when i first started riding it, having come from a car with an 8000rpm limiter it felt really weird to be cruising around town at 6-7k. But it's how the bike is designed to work so you get used to it.

What revs do you normally change gear at? Unless you're already changing at 14k every shift then I'd recommend trying to get used to it and see how it goes before you spend money on sprockets you might not need. Personally I'd rather have the acceleration than the top end speed but it's all personal preference at the end of the day.

That sounds about right for a sports 600.

The ER is a parrell twin, so it will rev lower compared to your 600 four cylinder bike.

The ER's redline is probably at around 10k or so and yours it at 15k, so you're both sitting at about one thirds rev range when cruising which is fine.
