Need abit of advice about sprockets, Boring maybe but needed

Hi all,

I've got a zx6r b1h 03, which i bought in sept 08.. I dont know a great deal about servicing the bikes etc, only basics..

Basically i think the owner before me had changed the sprocket and put one on for acceleration

I'm constantly having to change up because i dont get much through each gear before its revving high.

I need advice on what sprocket to get in order to get a more fluent drive, without having to change up every 2 seconds.

Advice would be helpfull,

Well what's on it at the moment.

I suspect the previous owner went one down on the gearbox sprocket(the small sprocket) so order one with one tooth more on it.

Going down one on the front sprocket is quite a common mod on the B1 I've noticed.

Thats why i want to understnad abit more about the sprockets, don't take a genius to know that its revving to much at that sort of speed, so ill have a look at them tomorrow and see what's on there. Thanks again for your help

Bear in mind mate you're comparing it to an ER6? At the end of the day it is a high revving sports bike, it might be supposed to be like that.

I felt the same on my ZXR when i first started riding it, having come from a car with an 8000rpm limiter it felt really weird to be cruising around town at 6-7k. But it's how the bike is designed to work so you get used to it.

What revs do you normally change gear at? Unless you're already changing at 14k every shift then I'd recommend trying to get used to it and see how it goes before you spend money on sprockets you might not need. Personally I'd rather have the acceleration than the top end speed but it's all personal preference at the end of the day.
