would you pay someone to clean your bike?
properly not just a bucket job.

a guy in stoke has just started to do bike valets and i was wondering how many people would use this kind of service..?

gotta say the results do look stunning when he has finished.my bike wasnt this clean when i bought it brand new..

now as you can tell i am one of the lazy buggers who cant be arsed to do a proper good job of cleaning my own bike..

money well spent in my opinion... Thumbs Up

Saw a couple of guys once tried to do this at Squires. They had all the kit in a trailer. Saw one bike being done, seemed a bit quick IMO but wasn't paying too close attention.

I think if it was done to the same standard as some car services (double bucket washing, good quality wax/polish, etc.) then I may consider it as a treat. However, that said IMO a bike is there to be ridden no looked at.

Maybe some chrome encrusted Harley owners will consider it Wink

If this guy is just doing bikes then with the current economic worries I wish him all the best. If people are having to cut back and save money then obvious luxuries like paying for car/bike wash has to be the one of the first to go.

Nope.

You want a job doing right. do it yourself.

Then again, my policy is, my bike is to be riden, and not spotlessly clean.

It does not got noticably faster when clean, and still gets me from A2B just the same...

The only thing i do notice is that when i do clean it, it gets dirty again, where as if i leave it dirty it looks no diffrent Laughing
So why waste your time cleaning it.... Rolling Eyes

No, not only am i cleaning the bike but i'm also making sure the bike is 100% maintaince-wise. would a valeter see if any of fastnerers were about to break? does he check the brake pads? discs? tyres? chain? shocks? leaks? fluid levels? brake lines? chain? sprockets? signs of corrosion? or damaged fairings?

Hi

Could be tempted occasionally. Doing a proper job can take ages, and there are plenty of things I would rather do than wash a bike.

All the best

I take mine to the local "hand car wash", pay my £3 and a team of turks run round with sponges, hosepipes and cloths for five minutes.

Job done Thumbs Up

Or would he use his partners toothbrush on the calipers? clean and return it? Rip up endless pieces of t-shirt for buffing. Put bits in the dishwasher on the Intensive cycle? Have every sponge in the house in the shed for bike use? But more importantly he would never ever use as much WD40 as i do.

To clean your bike makes you love it more.

I'd definitely pay for my bike to be cleaned, not stupid amounts for a proper clean though. More like Azonicben. I've considered using these hand car wash guys but not sure a) wether they'd do it without burning themselves, and b) if the end result would really be worth it since would they really get the wheels properly clean?

I also wonder about using these garage jetwash places - anyone used those for a bike?

Getting something valeted doesn't mean you're no longer allowed to check it works Confused

It would depend on how much they charged and how long they took. How much did it cost, how long did it take, and what was the bike, and how dirty was it to start with? Got any piccies?

jetwash does me while its cold and i want it to sparkle (making sure not damage anything!) Once over with the soap then spray it down, quick and cheap!

Summer months i'll get it apart and do it properly, taking time and getting a tan!

Wouldn't spend £20 odd quid for a professional valet but could be tempted when going to sell it!

Let us know who they are and how much they charge please.

Sometimes I love cleaning my bike, but most of the time I just can't be arsed with cleaning, which is why I still haven't prepped the two 7Rs for sale.

Might be worth it to me just as a way to spur me on in getting the other bikes sold instead of hooning around on the new one.

By the way, I popped in to Stoke HG to buy some cleaning stuff on Saturday, and it's still sitting at work waiting to be used!

My mechanic does that for me much better than I ever could.

I've had my bikes valeted a couple of times at Canary Wharf. £25 to get them back to showroom condition. Thumbs Up

Absolutely - properly cleaning a bike is time consuming and a pain in the arse. I've often wondered why no-one seems to offer the service.

If they have the brushes and tools to get in the gaps I can't get at then definately. I wash the Fut at least once a week, if not twice but not having access to a hosepipe makes doing stuff like the shock a huge pita.
