As the title says, seeing as it is coming up to summer and less people are going abroad, what is the best British holiday you have been on?

I do love going on the boats at the Norfolk Broads, but my favourite holiday was at center parcs at Longleat last December, probably rates as my best holiday and i've been to places like Florida. I loved the peace, the secluded nature of the accomodation and the very relaxing life, but with scope for lots of outdoor activities. It is quite pricey for a Brit holiday but totally worth it.

Makes me sound a right boring old git but the best hol we had over here was the Lake District for a week. Hired a cottage, stuck the MTB's in the back of the car and went.

Ride through the hills in the day, drink up at t'local at night and eat steaks by the 10oz's - bliss

But then I'm getting old/bald/fat so....

Every holiday I had as a child was memorable and all of them were in this country. But the best British holiday I have had, has to be the few days I had on my own on the west coast of Scotland last August. Just me & the bike, going where I wanted, meeting loads of different people, no one to answer to & just lying in my tent in the evening chilling. I am going to St Austell in May this year for a week, again on my own on the bike with a tent. Hopefully it will be just as good as the time I spent last year camping.

North wales is always nice.
Ive been up there a few times, usually renting a cottage for a week.
If the weathers nice you can hit the beach, or if its not so nice you can walk the mountains.
We also stayed in north devon a couple of years ago, that was quite nice too. Thumbs Up

This year we're renting a cottage for the week Thumbs Up

Feel blessed for living in N.Wales now Laughing I do like it up here though, there are amazing beaches, mountains, roads, lakes, quarries, forests! Got a £1million re-vamped Anglesey Circuit now aswell which is bloody awesome.

Cornwall is nice but it's mainly coastal stuff as far as I remember, there was a killer fudge shop there though.

Lake District was bland - but I was only 6 or something so couldn't appreciate the scenary then.

Some of the best holidays we've had recently have been in Scotland. We usually take in Mull and Iona, up to Fort William, then over to the Cairngorms.

Next down to Edinburgh to see my wife's aunt and finally onto North Berwick to see her cousin, Bass rock and all that touristy stuff.

Iona

In fact the whole of 2006 was excellent with great holidays in North Wales twice taking in Snowdon and then Bala, brilliant. Thumbs Up

Another vote for cornwall. I first went as a kid back in the 70's, then went back in the late 90's. Been at least once a year since.
Already got 3 weeks booked for this year. Very Happy

Fowey, Cornwall.

2 weeks of great weather in a rented large property on the river, right beside the bodnick-fowey ferry crossing. Amazing to see these MASSIVE boats carefully negotiating the bends down the river. Nice and peaceful.
