IIRC the fasteners on the ignition barrel are security type and have to be drilled out anyway, so yes i would say its possible with the lock on.
but chris's idea is probably best/easiest. or as peter andre would say bestiest ____________________ 04 NSR 125(sold) ---- 03 CBR 600rr(sold) ----90 pan euro ST1100 ' ' ----02 CG 125

Hi
Normally ignition switches are held on with shear bolts. These are designed so that when they get up to a decent torque the part of the head that the tool fits on shears off, hence nothing to fit a tool onto to undo them.
It is likely to be difficult to remove the ignition switch with the steering lock on. You need to take the top yoke off but to do this you need to slide it up over the forks / steering stem, while the pin from the lock probably goes into a hole in the frame which would stop you sliding it up. You might get away with unbolting it and then sliding the forks / bottom yoke down.
All the best

Thanks for the helpfull replys as for the ones sayin l nicked the bike
Managed to get a genuine honda lockset brand new off ebay £35 honda wanted £190 goin to change it at weekend will just need to drill the bolts out. The kit came with petrol cap and seat lock so no need for for different key's.
If anyone would like to come round and help fit the lock your welcome then you will know the bikes mine, or you could read all the topics l've posted to check.
Once again thanks for the helpful replys

Not sure if anyone's saying you knicked the bike, it's just not a good idea to stick info online on how to "hot-wire" a bike etc. |

i dont think it was the question you asked, i think it was the way the post was worded like "urgent" "bike used everyday" that got 'me' thinking you needed a quicker temporary fix than ordering a new barrel and changing it as you may have desperately needed the bike the next day.
not having a go , just trying to explain why a few people mighn't have niggles with it.
on the repair side of things, hope it all goes well ____________________ 04 NSR 125(sold) ---- 03 CBR 600rr(sold) ----90 pan euro ST1100 ' ' ----02 CG 125

If someone plans on stealing bikes they're going to find out either way. The knowledge is already out there, why try and 'hide' it? ____________________ Peugeot Speedfight 2 - Honda VFR400 - Honda CB500 |
