OK I'm stuck now. My RS 125 was not starting and now it is, sort of. I was checking if it had a strong spark so when i checked, it started but when i put the lead properly on the spark plug it died..What the hell could it be? Confused

I hope not. I thought that but then it's sparking perfect when it's not sitting on the spark plug proplery. If it's touching the outer rim or about 1mm away its perfect starts first time.

Exactly, which sounds like a faulty contact inside the HT lead. May as well replace it, they don't cost much.

Do you mean ignition coil?

Sounds like a faulty CDI unit to me, could indeed be related to immobiliser. Unfortunately without a wiring diagram or at least a make and model for the CDI and immobilliser there's not much you can do except bodge a different CDI on to it. Note that the immobiliser is usually part of the CDI unit.

Have you tried a new/different spark plug?

After that my next try would be a new plug cap. (I assume it is a lead and cap job not an all in one?!?!).

Ah, I was actually addressing the OPs problem, sorry for the confusion!

Must admit I didn't read your posts properly as I find excessive 'text speak' a little irritating and frankly with limited punctuation, hard work. Sad

That is not a 'dig' by the way, write how you like, I am just too lazy to try and decipher what you put to then try and offer advice!

If you wanna spend the time to try and re-write your problem a bit more traditionally so it is easier for me to read/understand your problem, then I'll spend the time thinking about it and trying to offer some advice .. Thumbs Up .. I am not trying to be a cnut and saying it has to be perfect English or I won't read it (this is a forum, so we can be pretty lax in prose) but just try and write it a bit clearer and I'll try and help.

I havn't tried a new spark plug as i got to order the thing cause our local aprilia dealership has closed down. I got a new lead/coil on order. It's all in one hopefully it'll solve the problem.

Is it a special plug then? (I really doubt that) Halfords do a reasonable spread of the most popular bike plugs ...

edit: after a quick google:-

NGK/BR10EG Spark Plug - Aprilia RS125 (All Models) 91-02

A BR10EG is a very popular plug, I'd put a very high probability on halfords stocking it ...

I'd have tried the plug before splashing out on a coil pack ...

Even if it wasn't your problem (and it is the coil/HT lead/cap), a new plug is never going to do any harm ... particularly in a 2-stroke, so it won't be a waste of cash! Wink

If I were you I'd get yourself down halfords regardless of having the coil on order ... ...

Or if Halfords will be difficult to get to and you have an eBay account ... https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NGK-spark-plug-BR10EG-plugs-BR10-EG-tradeprice-3830_W0QQitemZ250364211912

Thumbs Up
