wait till just after halfway, this guy blames everthing but himself for this, which imo is a total fail on the riders part, what do you think?

It looked like he just didnt brake hard enough for the corner saw the corner approaching too quickly shit one then couldnt stop staring at the trees/sand then locked the brakes and off he went he didnt even try to turn it in.

the road wasnt wet with dew, there was no fog and alex didnt lock his brakes up because i never heard any tire screech. I dont believe he was traveling at 50-60% his normal speed, i think he was just pushing to hard for his own skill

The road looked fine, better than fine and he was riding like he had miss daisy on the back. Target fixation though and through. He lost concentration then shit a brick.

I agree. He just locked up the rear brake, he could have easily made that corner - hell, im not a quick rider by any means but even i could ride quicker (and more safely ) than that!

Those are some hilarious excuses. Since he's convinced it's not his fault he'll do it again too.

And.. 'highsided'? Ha! Laughing

that aint no highside the bike through him off cause he wasn't paying attention if it was a "proper" highside it would of thrown him off on the corner as he was trying to hard, wheel spin, wheel grip ooops over i go,

Hard to say what happened, the video is not good enough quality.

Perhaps he did lock the front and so straightlined the corner (it is hard not to straightline a corner after locking the front, you never know if it's safe to start turning or not).

Can't tell really.

Alternatively maybe the back was just hopping or skidding and he panicked, rather than skillfully backing it in like a Brit would Laughing

Nah, the guy's bullshitting. He panic braked as the corner was a little sharper than the rest and found himself on his arse as a consequence of being outside his comfort zone. The sound is very clear yet you can't hear anything from the tyres and the camera doesn't suggest there's anything remotely wrong - he even says his mate arrives and 'you can hear the screeching tyres' from his bike, which you can't.

It's the same reason most people fall off, but only your fully paid up egotist arsehole would decide to turn it into a road safety video.

Shocked Rolling Eyes

I know its a helmet cam he is wearing, but he is all over the road and his lines through the corners is fairly poor...would hate to be near him going his claimed "usual speed".....

He just completely misjudged and bolloxed the corner and didn't help things by getting target fixation.

Wow... that guy needs some track time. It looks like a classic "oh man I'm not going to make it let me slam on brakes, keep the bike upright and stare at these trees" move to me. When I'm coming into a corner fast my brain is yelling "STOP STOP STOP" but I know the bike can do it so I just lean it over and look through the turn. Had he done that he would have been perfectly fine. He was going seriously slow so he could have made that corner had he not paniced.
I didn't hear any screeching tires and it appeared as though his friend had no trouble stopping, the camera got quite shakey but it looked like his friend slowed well before the turn.
Stupid excuses. I know it's human nature but sometimes you just have to say, "I screwed up". I ran off the track at a trackday and flipped my bike and myself. I did the same thing he did, didn't think I could make the turn as I was already out wide passing someone, stood the bike up, braked and ended up flipping. My excuse? I don't have one, it was my fault and I know what I need to do next time.

Er, he just went straight on ... pretty sh1t crash to be honest ... if he had done a traditional highside (too much power and it spat him off) it'd have been a bit more interesting ...

Video is sometimes deceptive, but also taking into account how far from the road he finished up, he couldn't have been doing more than 30 at the time? ...

Finally, I am not sure he realises he was best to drop it there than continue to keep it upright and take a trip off the edge and into the trees ...

Hi

He claims it just locked up, but listening to the engine note it sounds like it is still getting engine braking which suggests he hadn't pulled the clutch or locked the back wheel until he goes off the road.

All the best

Keith

Probably called him a cnut!! Very Happy

What amazes me is that clearly he has tried to analyse what happened, which is a good idea - and having a video would really help, not only so we can rewind time, but notice things that are perhaps blurred in the heat of the moment memory ...

What amazes me is that even give video he can watch over and over, how he can analyse it so completely wrong!! Very Happy

I also felt pretty robbed it wasn't a 'proper' highside Sad

Basically i said the crash was caused due to target fixation and him panic braking and losing the front end.

The guy is indeed cnut as i got this pm from him

Quote:
Allow me to answer your questions for you.

1. Because you are (persistently) ignorant.

2. Yes, I can take criticism. I can also spell it. Generally, I ignore ignorant people and their comments in real life as well. Refer to number 1.

3. For your future reference: GOOGLE YOUR SHIT BEFORE YOU POST IT (MORE THAN ONCE). High Siding - 1. Wrecking a bike by flipping it over. Usually caused by releasing the rear break during a skid. 2. Pitching a bike over and away from the direction you are turning. The dangerious kind of crash. 3. When a sliding rear tire suddenly regains traction while the motorcycle is leaned over, causing the motorcycle to violently snap from leaning side to the other side (the high side).

4. Just because you thought that the end results of this HIGH SIDE CRASH did not meet your expectations, doesn't excuse your ignorance. It does excuse me from saving you from it by posting this response in the thread. Which by the way, is still an option for me.

5. Your solution: Keep wasting your time projecting and repeating something that you obviously do not know anything about. Again, I refer you to read my number 1 response above.

You have yourself a good day now. Bye bye.

You know I have watched the vid several times now, flicking back to 2:30 and playing the crash over and over ...

My analysis ... I think he gave it beans out of the previous turn and ended up approaching the crash turn faster than he was comfortable with and basically bricked it, tried braking hard (angle doesn't change, but the rear chatter sound must mean the rear was light (front brake on hard) .. the reason it didn't turn in ... coz he was still hard on the front brake, he sh4t it as it wasn't turning in so pulled more .. next thing, he was out of road!!! Wink

In short, seems like a pretty standard crash to be honest ... if he had the mindset to override the instinct* and just let some of the front of, it would have turned in and he would probably have made it round the corner with little more than a brown stain in his pants ...

*Easier said than done in the heat of the moment Wink
