its a bit unbelieveable really arguably the worldest greatest motorbike rider and he trips over a glass table.

But i dont think it will effect him one bit when it comes to the first race of the season tbh.

Maybe not very professional if he was though , with pre season getting underway.

Because he isn't allowed a life away from motorsport?

When he was racing 125s or 250s (memory fading - it was a long time ago) he did the Australian with a broken arm and he rode well.

Riding to win when injured - that is professional.

Just what I was thinking, but didn't want to see too argumentative.

At least he's much more fun at and away from the circuit than a fair few of the other riders.

Didn't seem to hamper him too much in todays 1st test session in Malaysia.

He was 3rd fastest behind Capirossi and Stoner.

Thumbs Up

i agree he should be but , he is one of the leading sports professionals in the world and with great fame , sucess & fortune comes responsibilty to all the people who view him as a role model , so he has to obviously have a life away from the track but does getting drunk = a life not in my book.

but the same can be said for many celebs.

so no i dont think he should have got drunk - we dont even know if he was though.

Why does he have a responsibility? The man rides a motorcycle really, really well. His responsibility is to his Salary provider to ride that machine as well as he can and that's it.

Anyway he wasnt drunk , so really its doesnt matter

So I, for an example, have a responsibility to my employer to avoid activity in my private life which may cause me to have an injury?

You are crackers.

Why does he have to lead a more conservative life just because of his profession?

Surely a better role model (not that I think these sportspeople are) would be someone who is comfortable living his life the way he wants to live it, rather than restricting himself because of what other people think?

1. He wasnt drunk - he was just clumsy

If your asked ROSSI , "Would you consider getting drunk & injurying yourself professional behaviour?"

im sure his reply would be " i would not put my career in jeopardy by getting drunk and potentially injurying myself so bad it ends my career or i miss a season."

imagine the headline worlds greatest motorbike racer , career ended by drunk accident.

Im just saying if i was ROSSI i would not risk throwing my career away by getting pissed.

He was closing the curtains, slipped onto a glass table which broke and cut his foot and hand. Thumbs Up

So, back to me, I have a responsibility to my employer not do anything in my private life that puts my ability to type at risk. Such as ride a motorbike?

i am wasnt commenting about you, i was merely trying to put my view across regarding sports professionals i.e. ROSSI are expected to behave .

When Ian Wright was playing as a striker for Arsenal his contract specifically forbade him from riding a motorbike. One of the first things he did when retiring from professional football was to buy a motorbike.

I remember this from an interview he gave on TV when he was asked about regrets he had on becomming a professional footballer.

But I am a Human Being just the same as Rossi, so why should there be a double standard of expected behaviour?

That seems to be a fairly common clause with footballers., sadly I don't see me retiring from typing anytime soon though so it's a good job that clause doesn't appear in my contract. Smile

That is a bloody sanctimonious view.

What Rossi does away from the public eye is his business, no-one elses. Why are they expected to behave any differently to the rest of us?

I can go out on a Saturday and get bladdered ans still do my job on a Monday. If I fall down whilst pissed and lose pay as a result then that's my fault and my look-out.

Rossi is exactly the same, if he gets pissed, falls over and hurts himself (which wasn't the case in this story) then so what? It's his life.

Rolling Eyes

Cheers

Grim
