Hey guys, was riding along the a27 when I noticed a Skoda Octaivia on my tail - any closer he would have been my pillion! Its was black and started MX55 *** not sure about the last 3 letters. Pulled over and let it go by and noticed it was an unmarked cop car.
Since then Ive noticed a 58 plate Skoda - electric ish blue in and around Portsmouth and a silver 57 plate Skoda along the M275 - pulled over with a motorbike! lol
Also riding late at night - about midnight I noticed a 55 plate silver ford fiesta/focus new model had 2 police in it.

Anyone know any other unmarked cars in and around Pompey? Or unmarked bikes??
Anyone been pulled by any of the above vehicles? or know if they are all traffic police?

There is another Skoda Octavia around southampton, saw it pull someone in Northam, the last 3 letters of its plate were GYL.

Skodas are the main car I seem to see in the Portsmouth area.
There is a Silver Merc that runs the A27.
To be honest, any silver cars i tend to slow down for now

I think the silver mercedes might be West Sussex police as I have seen it up by Chichester along the A27 a few times. It may be silver mercedes estate of some sort.

Saw the Red Octavia today on the A30, just on the other side of Hook, Hampshire. It was dark red and same plate prefix as above. Carefully hidden behind it was a police motorcycle. Fortunately i saw him in time, but someone else got it (Cage driver). Was a bit sneaky, as it was stopped in a speed limit change (Went from 40 to national)

This seems a tactic of Hampshire Police, so look out for Skoda's on the side of the road. My guess is they were using the biker to pursue bikes. This is the 2nd time I've seen this in recent weeks.
There also seems to be a LOT more police motorcyclists about. I never used to see any, now i see them on a daily basis.

Berkshire / Thames Valley it is always a Vauxhall. Normally Vectra's although there are a few Omega's still about. They also have a corsa.

Froggy, what relevance is your post?

Hi, Unmarked Police cars and bikes change their numberplates every now and again so taking down the reg is a little useless.

Well not really as they might re-use the same plates again in future?! or on a different car.
And i have seen the same plate on the same car a year later. thanks anyway, Pongle

So...

...how many people ride around with a list of "spotted" unmarked cars taped to their tanks? Or am I the only one without an eidetic memory?

i'm with shaggy on this one, the coppers use so many different cars these days, avoiding silver/ black or any other colour is crazy, these are two of the most popular colours of cars on the road. the coppers are even using cars that have been imponded, i saw 2 in a corsa chavmbile. if you get pulled take it on the chin.

When I was going to London back in November there was an accident on the A3. I filtered to the front and saw an unmarked Ford Focus (one of those brand new orange ones) with it's lights going, so watch out for that as well.

The majority are dark coloured Skodas though, they usually have a load of antennas on the roof.

Have you seen the Silver Skoda?
Thats a car to look out for, I was behind it and there wasnt anything that 'stood' out to make you even think it was unmarked.
Thats the main one going around Portsmouth/Cosham area at the moment.

Silver Skoda tonight 5.20pm M27 from Junction M271 heading southbound...actually used hand signals from driver side, to beckon about 3 cars across to the Rownhams services to stop - why? I'm not totally sure, except that they were in the outer lanes overtaking nothing *shrugs*!

I tried to memorise the plate, but forgot by the time I got home. Sorry peeps!

Theres a really handy article here about how to spot an unmarked police car - https://www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk/police206.htm

Around my area (leeds/W.Yorkshire) they can usually be seen in the new stlye of astras, they stand out like sore thumbs though as they always have a really big ariel and extra lights.

Funnily enough I had a silver unmarked Skoda pull someone right outside my house about a week ago. Presumably it's the unmarked car of choice atm.
