I have had my NSR125 for about a month now and its due a topping up of 2stroke oil. Only thing is i don't know what oil the previous owner used. So is it okay to just add more oil or should i wait till the oil thats in has ran out to a comfortable level then add my new oil.

Thanks Carl

I don't see a problem with it. I've done it on my little 125 2 stroke n it's still fine. I just buy what ever fully synthetic oil is at the shops for it Smile

Draw a small sample from the tank and mix with an equal sized sample in a test tube and leave overnight.
If they have not separated you will be fine, If they have separated you will probably be fine.

what ever you chuck in will be fine, but the smell of castor based oils is how it should be Very Happy

drain whats in the tank, and fill up with the new oil, the stuff in the lines will get used on your next ride

I'm sure mixing types of oil will be better than a seized engine?

Its all going to be burnt anyway. Although I have known oils to react before.

I'd do what has been said and just pop the pipe off the oil pump. Drain out the oil in the tank. Then re-fill with the new oil. That small amount of oil left in the pipe work and the pump will burn off in a few minutes anyway.

Hi

Chances are 99% likely it will be fine if mixed.

There can be odd reactions with oils, but other than mixing castor based oils and mineral oils I only know one person who has suffered that (and that was diff oil in a car).

All the best

Keith
