Firstly i booked my test for a Monday morning at a new test centre downloaded directions from google and thought that would be fine.

Takes 30 mins to get there i left 2 hours before to go and do a bit of practice as i didnt have lessons. 45 mins before the test i have followed the map correctly and no sign of the test centre.

there was no signposts or anything as it was virtually brand new.
I arrived 5 minutes late and was told i couldnt do my test i was gutted.

i complained about the fact there was no signposts and the second time i went there they actually had put new ones up!

A month later test rebooked i turn up with my rucksack on with all my docs in -
"sir please leave your bag with your instructor"
i reply i dont have instructor.
" leave it with the person who accompained you"
i didnt come with anyone.

He went on to tell me that it is potentially dangerous and not allowed due to terroist laws.

So i said can i leave it here , he said no as it my be a security threat , i said i have no bombs etc and he could check , which he said was no allowed to do.

it has to be at least 100 metres away from the building if left unattended which clearly i would not do.

So he rang up the "boss" who said i could take it will me on my test.

Anyway i passed , but what has the country come to.

Umm wasted a day really + Money but I had such a good time with my trainers it didnt really bother me.
Test was 3:05pm - I sat in our office from 1.30pm being bored.
Got there, he seemed very stern and I worried.
Asked me questions and all of a sudden I had a stutter
Laughing Nerves got the better of me.
Did my test
Past
1 minor - pulling away in neutral lol
The road back on my own (No trainer in my ear) and that felt weird.
But I did pin it down Portsdown hill - was a great feeling.

Rode round the block a few times one way. Then the other way a few times. Did an emergency stop when the examiner waved his clipboard.

Then was supposed to do a figure 8 around various streets. Got lost, sped, went the wrong way down a one way street, cried a little, found the test centre again. Got beckoned over by the examiner.

Passed, had forgotten licence, cried some more, got told not to worry, ripped off L plates, hugged a passing old lady, got told to sod off by her. Went home, wobbling all the way and nearly dying every few miles.

It was a pretty normal test apart from a 4x4 crossing hatchings BACK ONTO a roundabout after taking the wrong exit and trying to take me out. Spotted him when performing my lifesaver Thumbs Up

I thought I had failed so I was a lot more relaxed after that happened Razz

I failed my 1st test when joining A38, a massive long lorry which is actualy from Poland (argh) wouldn't let me join properly, i slowed down to let him go, he slowed down to let me go, i speed up and he speed up and i ended up joining quite close to him so failed on that.

Passed 2nd time with 1 minor for something i can't remember

Was at the test centre two hours early as the instructor's other pupil had his test first - he failed on two majors and the instructor had to take him back the other side of Birmingham, meaning I was sat there for an hour sans moral support*.

Highlights of my trip included:
Passing a Indian wedding with people and cars strewn all over the road (1 minor, hesitation).
Overtaking a cement-truck (37 mph) on a 40mph dual-carriageway. Or attempting to, as it then ended and I had to abort, drop back and re-merge (1 minor, planning).
Deciding I'd failed, and, as a consequence, relaxing, meaning I'd tuned out the presence of the examiner and was prepared to just bimble around. I indicated right at a junction (cos that's the way I was going to bimble off) just before hearing "Left here, please", and had to cancel and flick over the other way (1 minor, control use).
Getting back to the test centre and waiting at the entrance stop line for 5 minutes for "traffic" to cease. (As the other guy had just Been A Bike and ridden straight in, earning himself a major.) The examiner took another 7.

*Although I was fairly bullish at the time.
In conversation with another couple of bikers I mentioned that the first guy had failed:
"Just remember, there's no reason for you to fail just because he has."
"I'll fail on my own fucking merit, thank you very much!" Wink

Took 1st test... had a decent ride upto a housing estate, did my U turn beautifully. next came emergency stop... rode round the block... saw examiner... waited for signal...Tosser gave it just as he was about to disappear out of my sight! i braked on a wet manhole cover, locked the back on it, soon as it hits the tarmac the other side it grips and spins again. By which time i'd released the back brake cos it had locked...the bike then shot forward because of released brake pressure. ended up grabbing the clutch and a handful of front brake.. put both feet down to steady it... then forgot my lifesavers before pulling into the side.

Rest of the ride was brilliant cos i just though fcuk it and rode for me...

end result

3 minors - mirror check, late signal, planning
1 major - no lifesavers after emergency stop

Gutted!

Failed the first time but I hadn't had any lessons or anything so a year of riding by myself had given me quite bad habbits.
Second test I passed after a lesson, the guy who passed me was called Peter Pass and he's notorious in my area for failing people.
As soon as I realised who was testing me I was prepared to fail, I even took a wrong turn at one point and ended up going onto a motorway.
Despite that I got back to the test centre with my instructor (who came to find me) and I passed Mr. Green .
I actually cried a bit and made the tester look quite alarmed.
The journey home was weird as I felt like I expected the CG to be different, like passing my test had unlocked some unkown power Laughing .

I had quite a weird experience on my test.
The test was the first of the day so about 8am. I got up at 6am to drive to the training centre for my hour with my instructor before the test. That hour went fine and I was feeling fairly confident. Get to the test centre and the examiner is on the phone by his bike outside the test centre. My instructor tells me this doesn't look good.

As it turns out the examiner had driven up from southport or somewhere (to Workington in Cumbria) without the keys for the test centre. At this point I panick because my instructor says they may just cancel all the tests for the day and rebook them...but my CBT was due to run out in two days time!!!

Luckily the examiner arranges to pick up some keys from southport or somewhere and delay all the tests by a few hours since all the tests for that day are booked through the local training centre and everyone booked in can delay.

So we go back to the training centre, sit around for three hours and wait for the call to come back. By now I'm slightly stressed but get on with my test. It all starts fine until I'm approaching a pedestrian crossing and the light goes to amber as I'm right on the crossing. Instead of continuing, I panick and slam on the brakes stopping about 3 feet past the white line. I now think I've failed and my brain goes blank, so I don't set off on the flashing amber. Then I hear "you do know you can go on flashing amber if it's clear" from the examiner. F*** I've definately failed now I think.

I then relax for the rest of the ride and in the end it turns out I passed with only 1 minor, I was very happy that day.

In went to the test centre with my instructor... The examiner collected me, went through the "show me/tell me" bollocks and got on the road. Within 3 minutes of the test starting I was doing 70mph on the A64 and overtaking other people (it's a dual carriageway). All was fine until 5 minutes before the end of the test. I was riding along when the radio went nuts in my ear (3 loud deep beeps) and I noticed that despite approaching a major junction, I wasn't given any intructions, so I pulled over (making sure it was a safe location Cool ) and we established the radio was fooked. As we were so close to the end, he gave me a string of instructions to make my way back to the test centre. We got back and he told me I performed an excellent ride and that I had passed with only two (pedantic his words not mine) minors!

At the moment I've stolen my brother YZF125R for the odd weekend bit of fun but when I've got some cash saved up I'm after any cheap bike to ride at 33bhp until my restriction runs out. Currently looking at GS500's because I can buy and insure one cheap as chips, and I won't be too bothered about throwing down the road.

Had a woman instructor gave me 1 serious faults 1 minor.
Failed on road positioning turning left at junctions. Apparently I was to far right, I always move out to the right before turning let at a junction to give me more room but she said a car come come and take me out, I said well that's why we do the lifesaver? but she insisted it was dangerous.

Cant see how I'm supposed to compromise my road possession because of potential idiots.

Minor for undue hesitation
Cars were cutting across my lane, everyone's been there once the first car cuts (usually in good time) they all followed only leaving a small gap.

I was a total bag of nerves. It was March 1st 2006 and I had passed my driving test 7 years earlier thinking I'd never have to go through that again!

I was on my own CG125 and the battery had started dying the day before(of course!), but thankfully was just about ok on the day.

Most of the test is a blur in my mind. I can just remember constantly telling myself mirror checks, lifesavers and indicators. Emergency stop I did perfectly, but had had that nailed from the first one I ever did on my CBT. U-turn had been perfected during 2 days training before the test, but I was wobbling all over the place on the day. Made it round much to my amazement.

Then we went for a blast out onto the dual carriageway out of town, headed back in and came off onto a roundabout I had never approached from that direction before. The examiner asked me to go straight over and back onto the dual carriageway which threw me. I went for the middle lane on autopilot and then to my horror saw a whacking great left arrow in both the left and middle lanes. I had no idea what to do and despite considering going left I went straight over as directed meaning I took the wrong lane. I started cursing myself and feeling gutted that I had guaranteed myself a fail.

We headed back to the test centre and I took my lid off resigned to my fate. The examiner asked me what I would do if riding in high winds if I felt unstable to which I responded I would slow down. He then asked what would be affected when carrying a pillion so I said handling, braking distances and accelaration. He nodded and then said "Ok not a bad ride, I'll give you a pass".

I was stunned but managed to hold my tongue about the screw up on the roundabout. He gave me 4 minors for little things and that was it. I could have hugged the bloke, but restrained myself to a handshake!

Very Happy

I sat mine and felt quite confident as it was going along, but not overly so, once the e-stop and u-turn were out of the way I felt fine. However on the last leg back to the test centre I car came straight through a red light at me, I just accelerated out of it and thought I failed at that point.

However he said he would only have failed me if I had stopped.

Passed with 2 minors. Crossed the center line at a junction and cant remember what the other was.
