Gave the bike a clean today for the first time and come a across some bits that need doing, rust and muck but i'm not too sure how to get rid of it?

Also my rear brake squeaks when i'm pushing the bike around. Any ideas why?

Here's some pictures of the problem areas:

try a wire brush for the harder bits of rust

and wire wool.

for rear brake, maybe the pads are worn out, or its sticking?

try taking the pad out, put copper grease on the back of it and put it back in. or new ones

The swept area on your rear disc doesn't look too clever,i would take the pads out and have a look.

Indeed, something is really not right with your rear brake.

As for the rust, wire wool and autosol on the metal bits.
As for the chromed bits, Im not sure what`ll get rid of it without damaging the chrome.

Pads fubared, maybe disc as well looking at that!

As said above the chrome bits need rubbing down to bare metal and re chroming or painting.

Mad How much will it cost to get the rear brake set right again? I don't want to spend too much as I was looking to get the bike sold soon.

My old Honda CBR125 from years ago rusted very similar to that.
The bike is made of bargain bin parts tbh.

I don't think it helps that he has only cleaned it once.

andi: Drooling That looks amazing considering how old the bike is puts mine to shame Thumbs Up

I think i'll put the polishing on hold until this stupid brake is sorted. I'm not sure what to do, should I DIY it or take it to the mechanic OR sell it as it is and keep quiet Shhh!

I guess it will make it easier to sell. So what do I do new pads and disc?

Also how much will it cost roughly? Ebay has loads of rear discs but I think most of them are mickey mouse ones.

Thanks for the help Thumbs Up

*EDIT*
intobikes.co.uk

EBC rear disc+pads and shipping comes to £83.73

Sounds about right?

You need to get the pads out and look to see what state they are in first before shelling out £80+.

+1 Thumbs Up

Put new pads in and try it. If the diskis ok then the pads will bed into it and give an even wear pattern.

I would guess that your pads have worn down to the metal though, if thats the case and you aren't sure if the disk is OK, you need to get it checked.

The other thing is, if I was buying a bike and came round to look at yours, I'd wonder what else is wrong and walk away after seeing that, so you really need to sort it out before you sell.
