 |
|
been looking around ebay for HID kits and am slightly confused as to why they appear to be bike specific? surely a h7 bulb is a h7 bulb and there should be only one type of hid kit for it
on the cbr i have 2 headlight's so would prefer a kit that does 2 bulbs, which the car kits seem to, so would any h7 kit do? ____________________ 04 NSR 125(sold) ---- 03 CBR 600rr(sold) ----90 pan euro ST1100 ' ' ----02 CG 125

Bike specific ones may be waterproof when car ones aren't?
Or they may just be using it as angle to sell the same ones .
I'm fairly pleased with the set of H4 ones I got from ebay - where the cheapest I could find delivered with a UK seller.
Providing you've got somewhere dry to put the ballast etc, I reckon any H7 at all should do - though I think most of the car ones were waterproof anyway. |

Slim ballasts are handy, especially if you have to put them under the tank like I did. If I could chose my colour again I'd go for a 4300K kit rather than 6000K, I don't like the blue tinge for night riding.
A note to anyone getting H4 HID bulbs. If you want Hi and Lo in one bulb make sure you get the solenoid operated ones and NOT ones with a filament bulb fo Hi Beam - the high beam bulb is about as powerful as sidelight bulbs :/
Also, a question to those who use H4 HID bulbs - what is your beam pattern like? Mine doesn't have a straight line cut off, and looks like a jaggedy version of a high beam, a bit like this:

I did that Also, I have the dual streetfighter headlights, both H4 bulbs and to get both of them to come on together I have to turn them on whilst giving the bike some revs |

This is my beam pattern, click for bigger:
https://gees.zenfolio.com/img/v1/p805474249-3.jpg
Especially in the picture (less obvious to naked eye) you can see a fair bit of light to the left, but in front the beam pattern is pretty good and very consistent.
Haven't had anyone flashing me, etc, so guessing they're not too bad. |
