okay so I'm looking at getting some speakers for the inside of my lid, but I was wondering..

What is everyones faverate song to listen to on the bike? Or if you don't listen to music, what songs want you to go for a ride?
Or am I just a freak Laughing

I'd say mine are generally anything from the 80's rock genre, Skid Row, Iron Maidan, Metallica and dare I say it some Meat Loaf

Iron Maidan - Can I play with Madness? - reet tune Smile :p

I haven't listened to music on a bike in a good few years, back when I had a tape walkman still, those were the days! My favourite riding tune was Soul Doubt by NOFX for a long time.

Ah crap, I'm one of these annyoing shits who doesn't look past the first page though, bad habit I know *hangs head in shame*

Punk for riding? Not something I'd have tried would have gone for the longer epical songs about living on the edge... But then again apart from the length thats what punk is :p

I generally don't listen with headphones in but I do like to have a good in-lid singalong. Some of my favourites include:

Guns N Roses - Breakdown & Estranged
Led Zeppelin - Going To California & Gallows Pole
Steppenwolf - Born To Be Wild
Bon Jovi - Wanted Dead Or Alive

There's probably many more but I can't think of any off the top of my head. I tend to sing the same song throughout a ride or day of riding. One fond memory was riding along the A158 at 100+mph sitting right back and singing my heart out to Wanted Dead Or Alive. Out of the above songs, this is that one that makes me want to ride, closely followed by Blaze Of Glory. In fact, I want to go out for a ride right now after writing this post Laughing.

I suppose one of the reasons I stopped listening to music while riding is that my choice of fast punk songs invariably made me ride like a tit Laughing

Lmao! Whats stopping you? 'cept the stupid-o-clock :p

I can see a theme of 80's music coming a long here...

But a couple that just came on media player are some chilled out Ska songs...

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones - Where'd you go? - just because the intro you can hear a motorbike

And another one Ash - Burn baby Burn

I would if it weren't for me not supposed to be riding it as the bike is awaiting exhaust and a carb balance which are both overdue to the point of it riding like a bag of shit Sad. Might just have to substitute by playing it awesomely on Rock Band Mr. Green.

An awsome game, the drums are really easy for that song, but at the same time so satisfying to play :p

For a really energetic, summery ride, it's pop punk all the way; New Found Glory, Blink 182, Zebrahead, The Offspring - really upbeat, you get the stuff.

On the motorways, to prevent execessive speeding and road rage, it's usually cafe del mar/buddha bar sort of stuff. If I ended up listening to the likes of Inflames, Archenemy, Lamb Of God, KSE and the like, I'd feel invicible and end up filtering at the ton+! OK if you're on B roads with a point to prove but really inexcusable if there are other road users.

Seeing that my mentality towards riding has changed somewhat, i now decide to just use earplugs since i can sense the tinnitus setting in (2 years of NOT wearign plugs and too many gigs/studio sessions!)

+1 to all that. Im thinking of getting some of those helmet speakers, along with wearing earplugs instead of just an mp3 blasting to cover the wind noise.

Ah well, if you are into the big music thing... try the choral version of, In The Hall Of The Mountain King, from the Peer Gynt Suite, by Eduard Grieg.

Queens Of The Stone Age
Foo Fighters
Block Party
Biffy Clyro
Silversun Pickups

Those are my favourites at the moment. Have it set up to play all of their loud/fast songs rather than the ballads.

I listened to the album Carnavas for about three months.... continuously. Absolutely brilliant!

On the trance side of things the only artest I could see being remotely good would be one album...
Darude - Before the Storm

But I'd still prefer the 80's rock with a bit of modern day Ska
