If you keep starting it every 5 minutes next thing is your battery will be flat too.
Stop starting it, leave it till you can ride on the road and THEN start it, let it warm up, adjust the idle when warm if neccessary, ride it then see what its like after a hundred miles or so ____________________ Current Toys: 06 Yamaha WR250F | Nissan 350Z GT | Tech 4 Homes |

I'm no expert but my nsr done this and I had to adjust the mixture screw. Should be on the Carburator under the tank. Don't ask me where... I think Keith has a detailed post about carbs somewhere in the articles section. ____________________ Honda NSR125R -> Suzuki GSXR400R GK76a -> Kawasaki ZX636 B1H -> Honda CBR400RR NC29 -> Nothing |

Hi
Don't keep starting the bike, and certainly don't rev it to 10000rpm when cold. Using the choke to much will wash the oil off the bore causing loads of extra wear, and also plenty of that fuel will find its way down to the oil and dilute it (and petrol is a lousy lubricant).
The idling problem might be the choke, but could also be an air leak after the carb (not that uncommon if you have a rubber manifold linking the carb to the engine), a sticking carb slide (but then it would probably idle at a lot higher revs), and could also be a badly routed / sticking throttle cable (when running do the revs go up and down as you turn the handlebars without touching the throttle, as if so the throttle cable is wrongly routed).
All the best

If the bike is running fine and idling fine then you have NO reason to put the choke on, so don't use the choke unless you can't get the bike started in the mornings without it. ____________________ Current Toys: 06 Yamaha WR250F | Nissan 350Z GT | Tech 4 Homes |
