Obviously not finished yet,but it's the first shed i've built and i'm more than happy with it.

Still got to felt the roof (although i've got waterproof paint on it for now) and put the floor down aswell as loads of other bits and pieces but that'll come eventually.

Far from profesional i know, but it'll do the job Very Happy

Probably not the kind of thing anyone on here is interested in but i thought i'd put it up

How could anyone not be interested? It's a shed. Sheds are blokespace. Anyone not interested in blokespace is either gay or female, and as such, not qualified to express an opinion on blokespace.

For a first go, it's pretty good.

|Don't forget security though: alarms etc.

Also what about electricity - believe me, makes sheds so much more functional if you can thrwo a microwave in there, maybe even a tv.

Although anyone who wants to get into a shed could do with a hacksaw bl;ade.

Cheers Smile

Every joint including the full floor joists are half lapped which took AGES doing them with a hack saw and chisels but i got sick of that and just done butt joints on the roof joists.(probably should have half lapped the roof but it's tiring work)

Security's not really a problem but i'll have some decent locks on the doors.
The boards are just 11mm osb so it wouldn't be that hard to push your way through them. The 8x4 sheets of ply was going to cost £25 per sheet and i ccouldn'treally afford that.(Will be using that for the floor though)

The only thing i'm a bit worried about is the lean angle for the water run-off.The front is 8ft high sloping to 7ft at the back.I hope that's enough.

I also ddidn'tget any planning permission so i'm hoping i dont get into trouble for that, but i doubt it.I built the whole thing in sections so it would be fairly easy to pull down if i had to.

I'll get a few more pics up tomorrow.

EDIT:
I'll have to have electric in there anyway for all my tools and lights.

In regards to planning permission, I'm sure I read somewhere once that as long as it is no taller and no closer to the road than the main building on the property, you won't need planning permission. I'm probably very very wrong though.

The easy route eh..

I spent a couple of days laying a base, shoveling like mad into the wee mixer, but I'm glad a proper base is built under the actual wood floors etc.

Only problem is, once it's done and you get your stuff in, then your bikes, then you want to work on them you end up thinking.. extension. Laughing

Whether or not something needs planning permission is also down to how far away from the house it is I believe, size also comes into it, lots of rules on it, I think Mrs Kickstart deals with that sort of stuff.

It looks like it fills your garden fence to fence? With a flat roof, if the water does drain off it's gonna go everywhere including all over your neighbours gardens, I'm fairly sure you should be required to make the water drain into your own. Without a better view it also looks pretty large and ugly, sticking up over all fences so not sure your neighbours will be too impressed.

So far it's cost me about £250 but will be another £100 or so by the time i get the flooring down.
If i bought a ready built type one from B&Q would probably have cost a lot more and would have been a lot smaller so building one myself was the only option really.(and it's fun Very Happy )

Due to the size of my garden i had to put it fence to fence to make full use of the space.
The roof slopes down to the rear slightly and there is a 1ft gap at the rear so any water would end up in my own garden.

I'll take a pic of it from the back door so you can see what it looks like properly. It is quite close to my neighbour to the right's kitchen window, but they are fine about it.

Most other neighbours around me have big shed's in their gardens aswell so it's no big deal to them.(plus i live in a shitty council estate that no one cares about anyway)

Yay!! Gotta love a shed/cave!!
It will end up costing more than a pre-build 'cos its your project, and you will do more and more.... Very Happy
If you gonna spend any sort of extended time in there, its worth puting in some cheap insulation and then line it. You will lose about 2" all the way round, and it will be a little extra cost and time, but it will make the WORLD of difference Very Happy Very Happy
Man no like cold cave, must be warm, then spend too much time in there and end up having domestics with 'one who make food'...ugg,ugg.

You don't need planning permission for a shed. Did you use marine ply? What are you going to cover the outside in? A 12inch fall is more than enough for water to drain off.

Damn I want to build a second shed now I've seen this.
Current one is only 6' x 8' and has my Triumph, filing cabinet, lawnmower, small collection of my dad's tools I nicked from my mum's shed (like her or my effeminate brother will use 'em), bicycle, and large box full of stuff for the rabbit Smile

Now I need shed to stick all that crap, sans the triumph, so I can have a bike shed devoted to tinkering etc. *grunts*

From then on, I and the bicycle feelings deeper.

I was told that anything over 6ft needs planning permission, but i'll just see how it goes.
I just used 11mm osb but will use some heavy duty ply for the base Thumbs Up
