Too fast for the road conditions, just came off 45 minutes of motorway on to the country road, road is wet, sharpish right hand bend with a left hand side road at the bend, extremely poor surface bumpy on the bend, gravel because of the junction, car waiting at the junction, about 35mph maybe 40mph!!! leaned in to the bend having seen the surface but too late to do anything about it apart from hope you stay shiny side up, front wheel slides away,
holy shit as I slide down the road on my side leaning on my elbow and the bike in front of me as the bike eventually slides in to the grass ripping it up and me sliding in to it almost back on to it, yipee as I jump to me feet totally unhurt, thank god for leathers, bike brake pedal bent, front brake lever slipped round, fairing scaped, mirror scraped, back box nackered, moral of the storey, ride to the conditions. I cant remember the last time I lost the front and its something I always dread but this one was a pleasure, very very lucky, I shot some vids on my mobile of the road and scrapes and will upload them later, ride safe guys

My mobile video

I now by watching the video over I see they widened the road so the bend tightened more that I expected for my speed and the road surface and conditions,

its always interesting

Sorry had to dump the link due to a prick

Personally I do not believe you when you say you came off by " Riding too fast for the road conditions", it just sounds like an excuse.
Are you sure it was not diesel on the road, badly maintained road, car driver on mobile phone, blinded by flash of speed camera, a slight nick in your tyres, a horse or a runaway kitten?

Edit....
Glad you are ok.

Doesn't look like much of a corner? Must be the point of view. What the heck is going on with that road surface, its all over the place!

Anyway your not hurt, nothing to worry about. Bit of brasso will sort that lot out.

Looks like you got away fairly lightly which is always nice.

Good show sir, not often someone admits an off could've been avoided by their own actions. Shocked

Thanks guys for your support, yeah I think I gave too much attention to the car that had just appeared at the side road ( fear they'd pull out ) than checking the flow of the road, and yep a road surface to die for!!!

every time I come off my bike and there aint a third party its my fault and yep I have lost it going round bends too fast in the wet a few times, trouble is we always push it because we are bikers that love the rush, most of my spills have been because I was rushing and not concentrating and its great now cause you can phone video it all to see what your mistake was.

If you dont admit you made the mistake you never learn!!!

I've not seen the video, but I presume they either coated it with chippings or it's just a b road which tend to accumulate gravel in the worst places. I followed a diversion along a road covered in these kinds of corners in the wet + fog + light mud about 2 weeks back, felt a bit close at times but I wasn't going more than 30ish on the corners.

Yep B road accumulation of grit and maybe what was left over from gritting the roads when it was icy though I think is the car hadnt been at the juntion on the left I would have read the road better and wouldnt have had to counter steer has hard as I did under the conditions, its behind me now and like Howling Terror say's "Another for the spill counter"

Your bang on the money there!
Your last statement is something I was completely guilty of, which as a result nearly bit me on the bum big time, thankfully it did not, however it has made me reconsider and re-evaluate some of the things I do and hopefuly, thus far has made me a little bit better. I think??! Thumbs Up

Bikerdemon,

Just noticed the rating issued - for the record, my original post was somewhat tongue in cheek, all that was missing from the original post was the "You need some advanced training" comment which 99% of the time appears in these type of threads.

It was a light hearted statment / Dig at these monkeys who see fit to comment on everyone elses incidents and or riding styles.

So on that note, apologies for hijacking a semi serious thread with my bullshite response. Karma Thumbs Up

No worries, maybe should have had "ha ha" at the end.
Went down that road tonight and it is a f**king sharp bend and the guy that was with me was surprised I got part way round, so am I, if it was dry with a good surface its a 25mph max knee down not 35/40 in the wet, I dont know what I was thinking of, counter steered to fuck but there was no chance, ride safe

Often it is hard to portray sarcasm in words on a forum, so hands held up on that one!

As for the incident, your not the only one to have entered a corner too quick and had trouble getting round and absolutely you wont be the last. It is just one of those things, we as bikers more often than not take numerous calculated risks when out for a pootle, often in search of the "Rush" that you spoke of a few posts ago, most of the time it pays off and you sail through the bend, crest, wheelie etc with no issues, but occasionally we all get caught out.

Only a few years ago did I low side my RS125. There is a half mile stretch of real nice fast twistys which at either end have a side road and a few of us where going back and forth these twistys turning at each respective side road, twistys no problem, little to quick into the side road, did not realise there was as much gravel / shite and whoops there you go, biker down, another post in the BCF spill counter.

Anyway, glad your well, bike is hopefully on the mend etc. Thumbs Up
