Too fast for the road conditions, just came off 45 minutes of motorway on to the country road, road is wet, sharpish right hand bend with a left hand side road at the bend, extremely poor surface bumpy on the bend, gravel because of the junction, car waiting at the junction, about 35mph maybe 40mph!!! leaned in to the bend having seen the surface but too late to do anything about it apart from hope you stay shiny side up, front wheel slides away,
holy shit as I slide down the road on my side leaning on my elbow and the bike in front of me as the bike eventually slides in to the grass ripping it up and me sliding in to it almost back on to it, yipee as I jump to me feet totally unhurt, thank god for leathers, bike brake pedal bent, front brake lever slipped round, fairing scaped, mirror scraped, back box nackered, moral of the storey, ride to the conditions. I cant remember the last time I lost the front and its something I always dread but this one was a pleasure, very very lucky, I shot some vids on my mobile of the road and scrapes and will upload them later, ride safe guys ____________________ Ride safe |

Doesn't look like much of a corner? Must be the point of view. What the heck is going on with that road surface, its all over the place!
Anyway your not hurt, nothing to worry about. Bit of brasso will sort that lot out. ____________________ https://www.metacafe.com/watch/1972097/how_to_behave_on_a_forum/ |

I am absolutely appalled by what I am reading, do you not know it was your cock up? Having watched the video, I think you were riding out of your limits and quite frankly your a danger to yourself and everyone around you.
This type of riding on the open road should be left for experienced, skilled riders, not amateurs who think they can ride and who inadvertantly are too scared to admit when they are wrong. ____________________ Suzuki VL Intruder 125 - Sep 04 to July 05 (Sold) / Aprilia RS125 - Jul 05 to May 08 (Sold) Suzuki RF600 - July 06 to Oct 06 (Crashed) / Suzuki SV1000S - Jan 09 to August 12 (Sold) / Honda CBR600f Track bike - August 12 to present |

Bikerdemon,
Just noticed the rating issued - for the record, my original post was somewhat tongue in cheek, all that was missing from the original post was the "You need some advanced training" comment which 99% of the time appears in these type of threads.
It was a light hearted statment / Dig at these monkeys who see fit to comment on everyone elses incidents and or riding styles.
So on that note, apologies for hijacking a semi serious thread with my bullshite response. ____________________ Suzuki VL Intruder 125 - Sep 04 to July 05 (Sold) / Aprilia RS125 - Jul 05 to May 08 (Sold) Suzuki RF600 - July 06 to Oct 06 (Crashed) / Suzuki SV1000S - Jan 09 to August 12 (Sold) / Honda CBR600f Track bike - August 12 to present |

No worries, maybe should have had "ha ha" at the end.
Went down that road tonight and it is a f**king sharp bend and the guy that was with me was surprised I got part way round, so am I, if it was dry with a good surface its a 25mph max knee down not 35/40 in the wet, I dont know what I was thinking of, counter steered to fuck but there was no chance, ride safe ____________________ Ride safe |

Often it is hard to portray sarcasm in words on a forum, so hands held up on that one!
As for the incident, your not the only one to have entered a corner too quick and had trouble getting round and absolutely you wont be the last. It is just one of those things, we as bikers more often than not take numerous calculated risks when out for a pootle, often in search of the "Rush" that you spoke of a few posts ago, most of the time it pays off and you sail through the bend, crest, wheelie etc with no issues, but occasionally we all get caught out.
Only a few years ago did I low side my RS125. There is a half mile stretch of real nice fast twistys which at either end have a side road and a few of us where going back and forth these twistys turning at each respective side road, twistys no problem, little to quick into the side road, did not realise there was as much gravel / shite and whoops there you go, biker down, another post in the BCF spill counter.
Anyway, glad your well, bike is hopefully on the mend etc. ____________________ Suzuki VL Intruder 125 - Sep 04 to July 05 (Sold) / Aprilia RS125 - Jul 05 to May 08 (Sold) Suzuki RF600 - July 06 to Oct 06 (Crashed) / Suzuki SV1000S - Jan 09 to August 12 (Sold) / Honda CBR600f Track bike - August 12 to present |

Old Thread Alert!
The last post was made 17 years, 23 days ago. Instead of replying here, would creating a new thread be more useful? |
