Hello. I bought a chain that comes with a big pad lock. Its REALLY heavy and its "sold secure approved" now this was £84 but as i work in the shop i got it from it cost me 60 odd quid. Now for a chain i guess this cost's a fair bit but if it means i get to keep my bike then its not that much. So what do you guys have and how much did you get it for?

I made various ground anchors and stuff at work. Have a cheap disk lock my theory on it is if someone want's to nick your'e bike that much they will do it no matter how much stuff you have on it.

I paid £18 for a 6 foot Oxford chain and lock.

Like Laura said though, if someone wants your bike they will take it regardless, we just have to make it as difficult as we can.

My mum had just been out and bought a chain to secure a gate, complete with padlock, that looked almost identical to the square bikes chains in most bike shops. Rather than being £80, it was £19.99!

It's now used to chain up my bike in the garage. Wink

I was a bit dubious at first, but then went at looked at the ones in my local bike shop and it's identical, and a little bit thicker in the links! Bonus!

PS: Bought it from a country/farm type place, farmers don't like stuff being nicked anymore than bikers do, and they like paying less too! Thumbs Up

^^^^ What laura said.

New honda goldwing, 2nd day of ownership, 2 ground anchors with huge locks and chains, imobiliser, disc lock, allarm, parked behind two cars...
The next morning, gone, the only sign of it being there are the scrape marks where the CRANE dragged along the top of the cars.

If they want it they will have it, however if you have a bike thats not particuarly rare or expensive only opertunists will go for it... but still mine is garraged, has a grip lock, allarm, hidden kill switch Twisted Evil and a big lock for when its sitting idle for a while or going with me to festivals and the like...
A pro would have it away quickly but a scumbag who can't be **** to walk home wouldn't bother.

5 quid for a disk lock from a friend.
20 quid for a chain and lock.
10 quid for a u lock.
Was given a ground anchor as a present.

To be honest if someone wants my bike bad enough to cut through things/take things off then they're gonna get it no matter what I do. All i'm interested in is keeping the small time thiefs away.

I rely just on the steering lock! I have even left the keys in the ignition in central London and its been there 8 hours later... Still I have a dodgy sensor on the side stand, so of you put it in gear, it stalls Twisted Evil
