Ok well got hold of the CG125 yesterday, 2005, 7K miles, £100. 1 owner from new and a full service history :thumbup: The guy had a car pull out on him and the front end is well and truely screwed.

I know it will need the following:

New forks (and maybe yokes)
New front wheel
New exhaust
Headlight
Bit of a paint touch up here and there
MOT + Tax

I thought once the front wheel is off the weight of the rear would keep the front held up, however this is not the case, so I bungeed the bike and put a plant pot on the seat, makes it look better too! Clapping

In the following picture is the bit on the bottom yoke where there is a little pin to stop the handlebars turning all the way left, however this was sheered off in the accident, causing the forks to make a dent in the tank Eh? . So if anybody knows if this problem has to be resolved before it will pass an MOT feel free to tell me Razz .

And here we have a couple of pictures of the bent wheel, was hoping it would be able to be "trued" out and straightened but thats unlikely having a closer look at it.

I would also appreciate any help on the matter of buying new forks, what year CG's forks will fit the 2005?

Yes you will have to repair the lockstop before you get the bike M.O.Ted.

£100 seems like a bloody good price.

Having a bit of trouble getting it fired up, it has stood for a couple of years...

Got the carb out and cleaned it all properly.

The petrol tank had been emptied before it was stored.

What else can I try to get it going?

I'd try spark plug and battery next. What's it like when trying to start? Does it turn over ok?

seconded, the battery can't be up to alot after sitting for 2 years.

Oooo you have the gay one with no kick start, yep you'll need a new battery and i'd bung a new spark plug in to. Was it sat for 2 years with no petrol in? I hope so or the tap will be gummed up too an you might want to swill out the tank.

It was emptied of petrol yes, I had charged the battery, got it running for around 30seconds. Not had the spark plug out yet but will do that next.

More progress:

Managed to get the forks off, undid one of the forks completely, to have a bolt fling out of the top from the spring lol. Also got the exhaust off, and the foot rest bit as one side was bent.

that hub looks ok it the pic ,just get a new rim, spokes and nipples if you can build a wheel (or this is a perfect time to learn)
but if you cant and dont know anyone who can it might work out cheaper to buy a new wheel

I'd also be taking the tyre, and the headlight glass lense if it's salvageable.

Have you checked the headstock of the frame for signs of damage?

To repair a damaged lock stop:

File down the remains of the damaged stop until flsuh with the yoke.

Drill a hole to take an M10 or M12 bolt.

Tap said hole to take said bolt.

Screw on a nut (Or two) to the bolt all the way to the head.

Screw bolt into yoke.

If the bolt sits too low and doesnt stop at the lock stop, raise the height of the bolt by backing the bolt out of the hole and using the nut(s) to lock the bolt against the yoke.

They are a bit scuffed at the top near the seals, but alot of the forks on ebay come with the fork bottoms.

The headstock bearings are screwed, they stop at 5cm intervals when you are turning the forks.

With regards to the headlight lense, i'll probably just be buying a universal headlight that will go on.

This was through a friend, I very much doubt I would of found something like this in a paper. The guy wrote it off a year-2years ago, and i've known him since he's had the bike, he just never got round to selling it... So by the time i'd asked him he was happy to see the back of it!

He didn't mean check the headstock bearings, he meant check the headstock for signs of cracking or bends.

You do know you could save the headlight lens and fork bottoms and sell them on Confused

The fork bottoms are scuffed, right near the seal too! Also the headlight lense is chipped, so not really sure why anybody would buy these items. Sad

The headstock area looks good all bar the lock stop, however this will soon be resolved as i just won a pair of forks and yokes on egay off a '500mile bike', £103 posted. Will update when i fit them.

So now really what I need to get in order of importance

Wheel
Exhaust
Mudgard
Headlight

Then its all dandy!
