A little story for you , a while back i bought a ZZR400 as a winter hack and to my amazement i find myself riding it more than the CBR .
I've just come back in from what turned from a 5 minute trip home from a mates into a 120 mile rural cruise in the dark
This bike is so comfortable and easy to ride , it might not be fast but hell i just enjoy sitting back on the thing and cruising at a steady speed .
Anyway i've just about payed my loan off so i might take another 2 grand and get something to cruise with but a bit bigger engine so i'm not up and down the box as much .
I don't know anything about THAT type of bike - being a sportsbike fanatic so where would i start , what would be decent at around that price - any ideas chaps ? ____________________ Bike History:- Vision / Phantom 100 / Aerox 100 / Runner VX125 / Honda VFR400 NC24 / Kwak ZX9R B3 / Honda CBR600 F / ZZR400 & K2 GSXR 750 / Suzuki VZ800 |

That's a tough one. Examples of Jap cruisers in that price range could turn out to be a bit poor (Virago etc), and maybe they won't give you the torque that you want so you're not going up and down the gears. You could possibly get hold of an early Dragstar 650, which have a really cool presence (could probably pass it off as a Harley to non-biking people).
Are you looking for the looks of a cruiser, or would you be willing to compromise on looks and go for a more all-round bike? If you were that could probably open a few more options for your choice of bike.
Edit: I will also add there is a mountain of chrome to polish on a Dragstar. That may or may not be your thing . ____________________ H100 Breaking for spares |

An all round bike would be cool , to be honest i just fancy something comfortable with enough power .
It's a complete joy riding the ZZR compared to the bumpiness of the CBR .
Plus i plan to hold onto the CBR for summer fun anyway - it's just not a bike i can really relax on if that makes any sense ?
Or maybe i'm just getting old ____________________ Bike History:- Vision / Phantom 100 / Aerox 100 / Runner VX125 / Honda VFR400 NC24 / Kwak ZX9R B3 / Honda CBR600 F / ZZR400 & K2 GSXR 750 / Suzuki VZ800 |

Yes, I see what you mean. I reckon these are underrated bikes and have fancied getting one for quite a while.
Or how about a ZZ-R 600? Sticking with what you've got but with a fair bit of extra oomph. I reckon you could pick up quite a nice one for two grand. ____________________ H100 Breaking for spares |

GS500s?
They still have the sporty look but are much comfier for the longer rides. ____________________ "Four wheels move the body, two wheels move the soul."

ZZR 1100. Cheap as chips and go on for ever but you might find your CBR a bit slow after riding the 11 ____________________ Triumph Trophy Launch Edition |

another vote for the ZZR6 or 11 from me.
i've had two 6's and love the one i have now. it's fast enough to enjoy, looks 'old man bike' enough that people think its slow and want to race - then lose. takes luggage nicely and is still fast. pillions makes it stick to the ground amazingly well (as does luggage) and i've found it handles well - but i've not really ridden any other bike except and RS50 with bore kit. so what do i know on the hanlding front?!
i've ridden mine for 8 hours in a day and through pissing down weather soaked through every layer for most of that trip and i'd do it again if i had the reason too (only with better gear this time) its great all rounder bike .... as would the 1100 be, but just a lot faster and a bit heavier. |
