when to change gear?

if i wanna get a bit of a rush by accelerating quick (its just a gs125 but seems fast for me, at the moment) i take it up to 8k revs every gear (red line is 10k)

Because i never touch red line does that mean the engine will be fine? or should i lower it ?

It will be fine, several occasions spent minutes at a time bounceing off the redline on the cg, proveded you keep the oil changes up 4stroke 125s gnerally with take allot of stick as them being thrashed daily is not optional its a requirement...
if you wan't to accelerate faster learn to change gears without the clutch...

If I'm out for a blast and there's a straight clear bit of road ahead. I always ride to the redline. In the first two gears I can feel the front wheel getting very light. But it never comes off the ground. Should I be able to get a wheelie on a 400 just off the throttle?

Also, does anyone find it completely different driving a car and revving it up to the redline? Doesn't sound or feel healthy in whatever cars I've tried it in. My mate is too scared to take his car past the 5krpm in his car when the redline is 7krpm. I'm assuming it's fine for cars to do this without breaking something?

my Rs does 98mph
i change gear at about 10,000 (11,000 redline)
unless its cold at which its 7,000 Rs need care when warming up
and they drive like shit untill there atleast 45 C

clutch ?

never use it for upshifts on the track, it loses speed and overheats the clutch

often use it for gentle shortshifts on the road but not for spirited riding

modern transmissions don't need it

also, quite often bounce my car off the limiter - but is a 2.0 Turbo Diesel Embarassed

I normally change up at 12,000 on my RS. Upshifts without a clutch is ok, I can do downshifts without the clutch but try not to do it to often.

Same with a car, the redline is to be aimed for. The limiter is what you want to avoid. Very Happy

borrowed a SV650 when the bandit was in for a service...soon found the limiter on it, most depressing...

The CB box was very very clunky when I got it but after a week or so of doing clutchless changes in and amongst its loosened up....doing them on a bandit/old gixxer engine does the box no end of good, makes it really smooth

The escort rarely gets redlined. Well it does in first, but nothing else - Being an escort it goes to sleep just before 5k so theres no point.
