Hi lads, totally lost when it comes to tyres.
I have first track day this weekend. On the bike it came with Dunlop 208 RR's, the forecast for this weekend is damp. I have wets and thats it.
What tyres are best for damp conditions, are the 208s ok to use or defo no no?

Any advice welcome.
Cheers

208's should be ok, depends on your definition of damp.

I've been caught out on 002's before, but the 208RR has much more tread and a lower operating temperature than those tyres, so you should be ok.

In the wet i think its more of a case of making sure you're comfortable in the wet, rather than what tyre you have (bar avons or something Laughing or something renowned for being shit)

Slow and smooth.

Im actually advising myself cos of Rock on 21st and it might rain, it is march Laughing But same applies I suppose.

Just make sure you dont push past your bounderies, take it slow n steady building smoothly to a faster pace Thumbs Up

Not needed, but they help.

Just make sure you warm your tyres properly. 208 RR's should be ok from cold anyway.

same as above really but if dunlop 208 rr are anything like the qualifier rr's then they should do well.

I did have a set of 208s before and found them dangerous on my srad750 but they were badly sun damaged so not really a fair comment to make on them.

If you have a set of wets then put them on if it is damp ... a new set of wets is cheaper than a crashed bike ... and you will have more fun from the day if you have more confidence in the tyres, so you are not wasting the £??? for the trackday etc ...

That said, the 208RRs will be fine/good in the damp!! Thumbs Up
