My front tyre has an irregular tyre wear pattern, as in the tread nearer the centre of the tyre 'steps' down across the ridge, so the circumference of the tyre is not perfectly rounded, was just wandering what the cause(s) of this could be?

I am getting a new set in a couple of week anyway, mainly interested if anything else on the bike can cause this.

Thanks.

EDIT- paint diagram added

Feathering of the tread is often a sign of the tyre being underinflated, or that you are simply pushing it hard.

This is interesting.

When I got the bike the tyre has that blistering type effect on the outter edge like it's been on a track. Also I pumped the tyre up from 36 to 38 PSI (as on the sticker on the swingarm).

Thanks Thumbs Up

I should add that mine do this too because I preferr them a little under the recommended pressure. They just wear out a bit more quickly is all.

any idea on effects to handling? I would have thought it would be detrimental.

No effect I have noticed until they get very worn, when you ought to have been replacing them anyway.

As Stinkwheel says, signs of a front being pushed a bit. Typically found on large tourers and heavier bikes. (Though the Bandit does it a bit too..)

As long as the tyres are within a few psi of recommended I wouldn't worry.
