NSR125, coming home from the gym did the usual of choke on for a couple of minutes while I suit up, gloves on and helmet on. Happily two-stroked on my way when shock horror she sort of died, I figured I had forgotten to fill her up with petrol like I've done previously but called Mummy who was down quick as a flash with a jerry can. Filled her up but couldn't start her, wore out the battery from trying so had to try and bump but still nothing. Left her there for the night and decided I had been defeated.
Any ideas what it could be? When I was trying to bump it the bike refused to rev and sounded sort of bogged down, a group of old guys walked past and one of them stated it sounded like it wasn't firing and a new spark plug should do it but I'm not so sure, the signs of no life seems to me like engine failure although by no means am I an expert.
So anyone have any ideas as to what could bring her back from the grave? I will be booking into the garage tomorrow but want to know how much I'm going to be looking at in repairs |

Wouldn't hurt to try chagning that spark plug before you take it to the garage.
You didn't forget to fill it up with 2stroke oil? ____________________ Bandit 600 |

The old boys might be right. The first thing to do is check the state of the plug, and check for a spark. Even if the plug isn't at fault, you might be able to determine what is wrong with it from the condition of the plug itself.

Obviously the oil ones don't apply to a 2-stroke. ____________________ H100 Breaking for spares |

it wouldnt have got as far as the carb as there is a filter thing attached to the tap, but that could need cleaning, my money is on the plug being fouled due to the ammount of choke you use, you should only really use the choke to get it started, then after about 10-20 seconds of the engine running gradually close the choke and it should tick over normal or slightly low on the revs, i found on my nsr the choke was only needed on the colder mornings and would start fine without a lot of the time. So in short, dont use the choke any more than you have to ____________________ 04 NSR 125(sold) ---- 03 CBR 600rr(sold) ----90 pan euro ST1100 ' ' ----02 CG 125
